Howdy everyone, Its been a while since I posted anything.
Yesterday I decided it was a nice day to ride to work, and Ive not been riding too much lately.

When I started it up and after a good warming, put the choke in and it sounded like it was missing, and did not want to run smooth at 30mph or less. I topped off the tank with a bit less than a gallon of super and figured it was from sitting so much. I really had to have it goosed while letting out the clutch to keep it from stalling. At speed I did not notice a problem. Return trip: same feeling and action at start of ride, arriving back to my town I had done 125 miles and was almost empty. New tank of super, same problems.

I parked it and have not had a chance to mess with it. but....
I bought a new set of NGK's for it, going to clean air filter real good and re-oil it and check all wireing connections for corrosion. I am hoping this takes care of it.
Is there a way to check the CDI and or coils to see if they are going bad? I didnt notice this a few weeks ago when I took my son for a short ride.

Thanks in advance guys.

Try putting a couple of shots of Sea Foam in it. Check down in the "General" forum for how to check the coils. Good Luck

ditto .... my KZ sits a lot , keep tank drained generally but what fuel that is left in carb "gunks" and usually takes a can of sea-foam and 2-tanks of premium to smooth things out for the Summer. hope that is all it is for ya.

Understand that PREMIUM is higher octane which retards detonation. Your bike wasn't designed to run on premium and will eventually start to soot up your new plugs. The only good thing about premium is that it has better additive packages. Buy a small bottle of Techron which is the best additive and run it through your gas. The pilot circuits; most likely the pilot jets are gummed from sitting. Seafoam is OK but not all that effective for negating the effects of ethanol.

Sitting has gummed the carbs up. Take me off and clean em up.

Pull the plugs and check the colour and dryness. Watch for a black and or wet plug indicating a misfire or a flooding carb.
