More than a year ago I posted on here asking for advice about my little brother, who was having substance abuse problems. I got some good advice from you fella's and I appreciated and implemented some of it. Today, the authorities phoned my Mom from Missouri to inform us that they had found my brother's body. He was in a densely wooded spot and had been there for many months. (Like myself, he loved the woods) No one in our family had heard from him for more than a year and there was no way for us to know where or how he was. He leaves behind an ex-wife and a beautiful, intelligent daughter of 11. He was only 49. Honestly, we were not close (although I often tried), but he was my only sibling. This comes on the heels of my father passing away a few weeks ago from old age. Now, there is only my Mother and I left from our immediate family. Just wanted to share with you folks cause of your earlier help.

Sorry to hear this Rich. Must still be a loss close or not. Was it substance abuse related or did he just pass on? Sorry of that is prying and if so don't feel obligated to answer, just wondered if the help had helped him get away from substance abuse.

Sorry to hear this, Rich. I am thinking your double loss must be very difficult, especially for your mother who also lost a child.
My condolences.

No problem. They are going to do on autopsy but it will be weeks from now and there is not much left to work with. I'm guessing that he finally succumbed to alcohol poisoning or a mix of alcohol and drugs. Found him apparently leaned up against a pine tree. At least, the last time I saw him we expressed our love for each other, and he left this world resting in his beloved woods, probably peacefully.

Wow, man sorry. It always hurts even when they have estranged themselves from you.
I will pray for peace for you and your family.

They say the loss of a child is as hard as loosing a spouse, from my observations it's worse. Loosing a younger sibling is always hard, you never think about dealing with it, surely they'll out survive you, I've been there.

Your mom and you will be in my prayers, as well as your brother, God bless.

Close or not, it's always a bit of a shock when an immediate family member passes.

My condolences to you and your mother, Rich.
