It took HD a long time (110 years!) to add an oil cooler to their engines. That's pretty sad.

I think it's funny that they are not empasizing the liquid cooling. It should be the best news for HDs in many years.

Hmmmm...interesting. Gotta say the H-D boys did a pretty good job of hiding the radiator on their new "FXRZWKPSQT-H2O" model there.

I also think by keeping the exhaust side of the motor consistently cooler they will have better luck with internal wear issues on them.

From what I'm reading elsewhere, it seems the nickname "Pisshead" might stick for a while.

Hmmmm...well yeah, Ron. I suppose It MIGHT be a little more convenient than that system they used which shut down the rear cylinder when the engine got too hot, huh!

I think that was a really good idea for low speed heat issues. I one lung 750cc motor should be able to pull you along just fine in rush hour traffic.

The standard ABS and the linked braking are the items I am most impressed with.

Hardly Davidson's timing is just mean. 2004 saw major changes, exactly one year after HD's 100th anniversary. Now, for the 2014 model year which is exactly one year after HD's 110th anniversary, more major changes.

Great picture, the lean doesn't look that bad, so is the rider bailing out early or just falling off, or did he drop his beer or something and is trying to pick it up?

I disagree, when the sparks start it just means that you are getting close. you probably don't need those low hanging bits anyway, and this way they are marked for removal.

Stopped in one of our HD dealers today to look at the liquid bike. The limited at 30K is real spendy! But, it is a beautiful motorcycle.
They got 3 in so far and they are sold. Two are gone and they ordered more not knowing how many they can get. Apparently some HD riders are not purist, they want the liquid.
Oh, the stereo and Nav system is impressive!

Agreed, My 2010 Street Glide has the optional Brembo ABS brakes. It is the single greatest development in motorcycles in many years, lives have been saved. I took a 2014 Street Glide for a ride yesterday - absolutely incredible - there's a reason these guys are selling so many bikes. I can't wait to see Triumph's Thunderbird version and I'm glad they're taking their cues from Harley, these guys are doing it right.

Makes sense. The anniversary year bikes will sell even if mostly carryovers. This pulls ahead sales and would leave the following year or two sharply declining.
The 2013 bikes sell because of the model year the 2014 bikes sell because of the improvements reducing the drop-off after the big anniversary party.

However my favorite Dyna the Fat Bob has been screwed up for 2014. The rear fender/tail lamp look like crap fro the 70s and the angled tank stripe looks cheap.

Yeah, OB. It does kinda look a little like a '71 "Boattail" Superglide, doesn't it...

(...I gotta admit though that I always liked that bike)

You're welcome, erle.
Most likely the reason you've never seen a Boattail Superglide is because they weren't a big seller back in the day. A few years back while at some rally, I happened to strike up a conversation with an older gentleman who said he owned a Harley dealership for many years from the late '60s to just a few years ago. During this conversation I told him of always liking the Boattails and he replied that I was one of the very few people who did like it, and then went on to tell me that most of the Superglides he sold the customers would tell him to replace the Boattail with a "normal" fender/seat, and so he said he had many of those Boattail units just sitting around in his storage area for years.
(...and the irony here is that those Boattail seat/fender units now go for big big bucks on the collector market)

Dunno OB; I agree about the tank stripe, however to my eyes the rear fender looks better than what it replaced.
That bike also ought to have a 2>1 exhaust.

Maybe it's the color, that flat beige doesn't help. Gloss black with silver stripe might make the difference.

I think that fender looks like it came off a KZ. I do like the color and the stripe.
I kinda like the boat tail.

I stopped in at Cycle Stop up in the big city today and checked them out.Kinda nice having the Triumph and Harley dealer together though. I can get all parts in one stop. Oh yea, I was there to get crankcase vent bits since the Road King leaks. Hey, if it ain't pissing, it's not a Harley. Very nice looking bikes. The cooling is hidden well and I bet most would not notice. The funny thing was that the Harley Factory tag said the motor is air cooled. No mention of the little radiator.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

The FLHX tail lights look a little bigger for 2014; the rear lights on the 2013 are an effing joke; you can barely see 'em.
To me that "radiator" looks like an oil cooler, not a water cooler.
