Pretty much just lost power doing 45 mph. Engine wa still running, but poorly. First thought was dry tank, though as I flipped to reserve I noticed it was about 20 miles early for that. Still ran very poorly, limped into a gas station whn the traffic finally let me over.

It never died, it responded to the throttle with increased (but sickly) revs - just no power.

And of course it was just late enough there was no freaking way I was going to be able to get it to the shop tonight before they closed. Called them anyway but clear across town, hour before close, at rush hour - no.

After a half hour or so I restarted - sounded better. I don't think it was quite normal, but not sure. Wa able to baby it home - it didn't seem at full power, but a nothing like it was, so maybe that was just my imagination.

So intermittent loss of power, comes and goes....last time that was the CDI. I really can't replace that now. Had a brilliant thought it might be the vaccuum caps (cheap fixes are always nice!) but no, they seem fine.

Not sure how but I guess I'll get it to the shop tomorrow - going to be difficult with meetings @ work & family busy.

You can check for water in the fuel, This alcohol laced crap that's called gas now, loves to absorb water. Unscrew the drain(s) on the carbs and catch the fuel? in a can/cup to see what comes out.
