I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert last night in Tulsa. Stevie Nicks the whole show. I wish I could say it was a fantastic concert but maybe it's just me and I expected them to sound as good as they did 40 years ago. I was really disappointed. To me it seemed they couldn't hit the high notes, were flat on some of the guitar stuff. The loudness and instruments seemed to overwhelm the vocals. I read an online piece from the Daily Oklahoman (OKC newspaper) and they gave them a glowing review. I think they need a replacement for Christine McVie...like yesterday. I guess it's amazing that they are still around and making albums and doing tours. Like I said maybe my expectations were a little too lofty.

Sorry they let ya down. I would go see them given the chance. They are one of ma favorites.

Yeah, I'm sitting here listening to one of their greatest hits albums while typing. I'm still a fan and it's early in their tour and maybe they are still working out some kinks. I hope my negative review didn't turn anyone off from them. I would really like another opinion on someone hearing one of their recent concerts. Plus I didn't have to pay for the $80 ticket. My son's mom invited me. I probably won't get any freebie concert tickets in the near future though. I don't hide my feelings well. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=fleetwood+mac&qpvt=fleetwood+mac&FORM=VQFRML#x0y505

I saw them back in the day (maybe '76?). I think I'll stick with the memories.

Caught REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar in Prescott about a year ago. Pat still sounded(and looked) pretty good, but REO Speedwagon sounded like Paul said Fleetwood Mac came across to him.
By far the best act from the Classic Rock era that I've caught in recent years and that still sounded great was John Fogerty.

Wow, were they on the wheel chair tour ?? ??
I remember seeing REO Speedwagon at a local college bar in 1973. That was in my "Music cannot be played too loud" era. That era subsequently ended when I saw Wishbone Ash and sat in front of a bank of speakers. It became an out-of-body experience. I've been gun shy about playing the Wishbone vinyl for over 40 years now.

It seems all the bands from back in the day are doin' that whole, "Dude, we're gettin' the band back together again" thing.
Within the last few years I've also seen The Who perform live, and unfortunately I gotta say as much as I've always dug Roger and Pete, I think it's time for them to call it quits.
(...and the same goes for McCartney, 'cause he can barely hold a note anymore either)

Fleetwood mac was actually a good band back in the day where as the others named here, well, not so much.

Fleetwood Mac will always be Mick Fleetwood Jeremy Spenser and Peter Green. I suspect for more then a few on this web site that's two generations ago just like the band.

Best Fleetwood Mac song ever... "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight" In my opinion, it was all down hill after that.

+1, then along came Bob and Stevie and Lindsay and they became the pop machine Warner Records wanted. The band they became has no resemblance to the original band, that's not a bad thing just pointing out some fact's few may remember.

I had an old British Blues album, a compilation of British Artists. Wasn't Fleetowood Mac originally called "Chicken Shack"?
I foolishly gave some of that stuff away.

I liked some of Bob Welchs solo stuff.
And at one time I had the Buckingham Nicks album, a good piece of work actually.
I like Stevie but I've always been a Christine kinda guy.. loved her solo work as well. But if you put Sheryl Crow on the keys then I just might be a "mac" fan once again.

Sorry to hear about the show, Heck when they toured 10 yrs ago, Christine McVee was the one who bailed out in the middle. As far as Stevie goes she is still a fine looking older lady and im sure it was just a bad night for her. On my guitar forum, a guy was trying to figure a song out by a class B hair band, Yand T. He was using a fan vid of a recent show. It was a obscure ballad so he couldn't just download the sheet music from chordie or ultimate guitar. He was trying to play by ear and watch hands, I had to remind him that they were probably tuned down a 1/2 to a whole step. It happens with age. Heck, Kiss should also call it quits. they always tuned down a half step, and now they are a whole step. Pauls voice isnt too bad but not what it used to be. Same goes for Vince Neil. He has always had help from auto tune (even before the general public knew what it was)but even that is having a hard time helping him. It is a real bummer when your hero's start to get old. At least Ozzy still sounds good. He has only ever sang in one register anyway! but hell I always said If I was a rock star they would have to carry me out kicking and screaming.

Still have the Buckingham/Nicks album. Great tunes. For those that only know Fleetwood Mac with Lindsey and Stevie, their first album with those 2 was their 13 album overall.

All kidding aside, I couldn't agree more. She dated Denny Wilson, which elevates her in my book.

Hey Dwight!
He looked pretty good in this "Sound City" movie. He plays a new song with the Dave Grohl towards the end of the movie.

My first real concert, back in '76. Seeing them again now could never compare... Is Lindsey touring with the band? When I listen to them now, I tune out all but the drums - Mick is the Master!

Exactly my point. They need another soprano to round out their vocals. Lindsey just ain't makin it trying to hit the high stuff and Stevie can't even get close. I guess that's why they didn't sing "You make loving fun" my all time favorite Mac/Christine song. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22l5o_fleetwood-mac-you-make-lovin-fun_events
I think most of the stuff about Sheryl joining the band was just talk around 2008 though.

Saw him on "Later with Jools Holland". I agree with Dwight. Looked like he could barely hold his bass, let alone a note.

Yeah but Donny did you see Stevie dance? It was so lame like she was a 65 year old woman, trying not to fall. Oh yeah..she is. I think you and my ex-wife and the media and 20,000 people at the BOK center are all tone deaf. This is sounding kind of like everyone else in the world is crazy except for me. I'm sticking by my guns. I think they need another "Christine McVie". I know they are not going to get her back so whats wrong with a little rejuvenation in the form of a new female vocalist?
