I hope you guys don't mind me posting in memory of my father-in-law, who passed away in the early hours of this morning. He was a father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather who loved his family and in return was loved greatly. He served his country in the Second World War, serving with distinction and decorated for his actions in Sicily. He would have been 90 years of age in May, this year, but his body was just worn out and I think he longed to join his wife of 60 years, who passed away a few years ago. He will be sorely missed but will be remembered for giving respect where due and standing up for what he considered right.

I've had a good life - if reincarnated I'd change nothing!!

Thanks for the summation of his life. Glad the family thought so highly of him.

It really sounds like he was appreciated. Sorry for your loss!

Sorry for both of your losses, what better place to share your sorrow than among the community you are part of here.

A member of the Greatest Generation who did nothing less than save the World. I lost my grandfather in December. WWII Vet and greatest human I've ever known. I hope he's welcoming your father-in-law into the big room in Heaven with all of the other soldiers that were there waiting before him. May the road rise to meet you sir.

War veterans who witness the horrors of war at such a young age but come home to live a normal life by raising a large family are our greatest asset. It takes an honorable man to keep those terrible memories inside but show nothing but love, support and friendship to all who surrounded him. I am sorry for his passing and my condolences to you and your extended family. He sounds like he was a great guy and I would have been honored to sit down and have a beer with him. Your wife really needs your support now. God bless you and your family.

Doug

When you've lived through the eviles of war the best that you can do is come home and be the best that you can be.Sounds like thats exactly what your father inlaw did, God bless him.
