Quite a few reasons as to why its called Boxing day. I was told it was the day the lords, ladies, heads of the household etc gave the servants a day off, however they still had to be provided for so their meals where prepared beforehand and put in boxes (lunch box) for them.

Nowdays the sales start on Boxing day so its no time of for the servants anymore.

You mean I was supposed to give the servants they day off? Oh, crap.

(...yes, Sir Chet...one must occasionally think of The Help and their needs too, you know!)

Boxing day is the day that my holidays start, as that's the day I get my daughter.
