Jeff,
I just realized the bass track on surf rock is so close to blood and roses by The Smithereens. Very cool!

haha...thanks, ya know I was trying to download the album from a peer to peer site, and no one who had it was on when I was.
Anyway, I was relieved to hear it wasnt "an exact rip off" of a song I never heard. There is a similarity though, in a good way. Good ears dude
Man that guy in the video was sure playing those 4 root notes with some gusto...haha
SO WHATS THE DEAL AROUND HERE!?!?!
Ive been busy and I'm waiting for a new computer (old one crashed). I just spent like $1500 on numerous musical toys...
-Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 tube amp -RC-20 Loopstation -RC-30 loopstation -Cheap Casio keyboard -Boosta Grande Boost pedal -ABY signal switch pedal
I'm writing a score for a movie my buddy made and I just started laying tracks for a punk album with the "every other monday" band. And I just started writing some new material with the "every thursday" band....SO busy, busy, busy.
Last time I heard anything from here was perceval mixing tracks, Churchkey swinging by for a minute and dumping awesome guitar solos on everyone and never returning, and keith offering up a synth track with no digi drums.
Where do we go now? Does anyone wanna do more?

He!! yea,, I know I have been all talk for the most part but I did try for 5 hours on the one day my house was empty. ended up screwing up right at the end when I went to save the clean and dirty tracks. I will get that darn base track done and in the drop box hopefully this weekend. Its pretty basic 3 chords. If i had a looper I could just put it in that for all the verses and spend time trying some variation for the chorus. I DID MANAGE TO SATY ON THE CLICK!!! (That is a accomplishment for me!)

I'm still around... barely!
I would love to add some more stuff, and I probably will, but my free time has been used painting, building and setting up a "diner" style restaurant.
Yep, I don't like to sit still and do nothing, and I had this crazy idea of a diner catering to the thousands of students at the university 5 min from where I live.
I decided to act!
But since it is Chinese New Year vacation, I have some free time from the school, so my drumkit is out and ready to play anytime.

I think we owe it to ba.com to come up with and finalize some sort of collaboration. Everyone here has been so patient with us, while we "musicians" carry on in our own little world. I would be most interested in deciding on a course of action and following through on it with the finale goal being a completed song we can all be proud of.

Keith, youve mentioned this before and I agree. But I think its pretty vague without any concrete suggestion. So list what YOU want done and we'll go from there.
Example: I (keith) want such and such done to finish up the latin song.
etc.
who else?

Okay guys, I'll take the lead on this. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I might introduce something new here. A song about a local woman who got lost up in the mountains while skiing and spent the night up there in the cold. She survived fortunately. I now believe if we start with a completed song it will be something we can all add to. I'm working on that song as we speak (so to speak).

I talked to Keith via Pm, Here is what you will see in your DB folders,, Its a almost blank .TXT file called LIVING LYRIC WALL. its a place we can jointly(is that a word?) write together. I put one most places and one in the main folder. so you can copy paste where you want to put a new one. I started a bit in preachers southern jam file, which I added the name to at the end of rhythm track1. hope everyone likes the stuff I put in. This is not stuff that is set in stone. It is a Brain storming wall. Seems every Documentary on a band that I see there is some sort of white board, poster paper hanging around with ideas abounding all over it. so this is our version. This early morning is really the first time I have checked out all the DB updates to the files. FREAKING AWESOME what is being done. I hope to put the basic rhythm for my song in tomorrow. I taking off work So ill have a few min. I just want to get the main track done instead of screwing it all up like the last day I tried From Fri to Mon I will be either driving or playing in New Orleans with my boys. Ill let you all know how undressed the lady super hero / villains were

I recorded it on my media players voice recorder. but have a full set of lyrics on the page. Oh and who can give me a pm with a phone number on it,, I am trying to figure out some stuff on my mixer. Like how to correctly wire it to monitor and record with out picking up the monitor signal to!!!!

The ride seems like a problem.
It was coming out nicely with my headphones on, but when listening through my speaker system, it's practically non-existant.

Jeff I listened to that mix last night...I admire your patience on that one...haha. I had a hell of a time adding bass to it because the timing drifts, but it wasnt that noticeable until the drums were added.
I think we need to start that one from scratch using a metronome for the backbone. Beamer has a hard time playing to a click, but can play to a drumbeat. So when I get some time I think I'll rerecord the bass line to a click, send it to you for some drums, and then Beamer will add the guitar with it.
Sound good?

Alright,
Finally got something done!
Scott and Tom, On Love is the Sun, I got a beat for you to add your guitars and bass. It's just the main beat (I'm not used to just play my drums with nothing else to follow so it's far from perfect, there's a couple of hiccups but it should do for now). The tempo is 115bpm. Scott, I'll add the rolls later. You know better than any of us how the song goes, so with this backtrack, you should be able to add your guitar and the melody, I'm sure Tom and I will be able to fill in the missing parts after.
Preacher, I started a little beat I had fun playing on your blues song. Maybe we can add some more tracks to it? The invitation is opened, anyone who can share is welcomed, of course!
Files will be in the BA DropBox folder.

So, spring is here, everyone is getting their bikes ready for summer... so I guess this thread is dead until next winter?
Too bad, 'cos with my Saturday music nights happening lately, I have this urge to play music!
I just got a new PA system (a nice Yamaha StagePAs that I highly recommend) and just placed an order for a Yamaha P95 digital piano which I should get on Tuesday. With MIDI, outer space is the limit with that thing!
Haven't played a piano in over 10 years (and I wasn't even good at it 10 years ago) but I have the music bug in me right now... I just want to play stuff. Even compose if I can.
So, if you still want to share and contribute, drop in! If not... see ya in winter!

music's year round for me. Nothing better than riding a quick 50 miles on a saturday morning and coming home to jam some guitar really loud...haha
Anyway, yeah I'm down, was waiting for duder to come back with something.
I'll probably have some time tonight to dig thru my older recordings and post something you could jam on. Throw some piano in if you like, dont matter.
if you got anything let me know
