As some of you may have heard. I am opening my motorcycle shop for lack of a better term. This Saturday I will open the doors to the public for the first time. Its has been a long journey, as it has taken me nearly two years to get to this point.

Good luck!!!

It's nice to know that if traveling through Texas and problems arise, there's someone I can count on to help a brother out, with no charge.

What Bill said but with a pay off at the end, Running your own thing is a lot harder than most think. I did it for over 20 years and it was hard work. Kind of nice now to just put in my time and get a check.

I would rather work my gut off, and keep my ass. The idea is the same though. Working hard means payoff so thanks to you guys.

That's really great, Chad. I've thought about such things but I just don't think I have the social skills to deal with customers. Or the technical skills for that matter. Good on ya.

Been working for myself for 13 years now. Make about the same money as working for "the man", but with less hours and I choose them. I wish you success!

Good luck ! It's tuff , I know , have had 3 businesses , but it's rewarding.
Just remember - it's a SERVICE industry , serve your customers .

Like running an air line out front so yer customers can air up tires , and you can have a gauge on a chain , like pens at the bank .

And get some Doc Baily's leather treatment .

And have a coffee pot on .

And ...............and.........and............ .

I contract my services independently and I have some real estate rental properties. My wife also contracts independently. We make our own decisions now. Less security but, fortunately, people need our services and we can work as much (or as little) as we want. The health care reform act has made health insurance much more affordable for the small businessman. If you haven't looked into it ask your accountant. I think it's the best time in the past decade for you to make the move.
