So the other day my friend and I took our 15' canoe with the electric motor out for a wee bit of adventure and I managed to capture these shots. It all comes down to magnificence! Various reflections off the water. A fire swept through this area 3 years ago leaving a forest of skeleton trees behind. Hope you enjoyed this little piece of my adventure.

Great stuff. It rekindles my desire to ride the road around Toledo Bend on the Texas/Louisiana border.

I miss canadian lakes.
Looking great over there, Keith.
Over here, whenever I visit a place called "a lake" I get so sad.... Back home, we call them mud holes.

wonderfull pics and bee-u-t-full country!!!! i thought for sure this was gonna be about that guy that was out with his son canoeing in fl waters, decided to go for a swim and got his head stuck in a gators mouth. i am sure everyone has heard about it. the guy was able to pry the gators mouth open and get away, 50 stitches and several staples later he is home. i guess where it was is a very popular swimming hole and people tube and canoe there all the time.
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Not this time... she was afraid of getting them wet!

Thanks Z! My digital has a manual setting for things like focus, shutter speed, ISO and F-stop... pretty much everything. I was once pretty handy with an SLR so I just migrated that knowledge over.

I was recently in BC and I thought, if I were to ever leave Asheville, that Squamish, BC, was where I might relocate. I watched game 7 of the Stanley Cup there with some Cannuck fans. Great fun.

Chet, I Will probably be back in AVL next summer. Wife wants to go back to Lake Lure for our 20th. I grew up in Arden and my dads church was Calvary Episcopal in Fletcher. I want to haul the TBA up there,,,but realisticly that may not happen. I have not gotten to ride all the roads I used to terrorize as a kid in my VW! LOLOL I'll keep you posted and maybe we can meet.

Beamer, my neck of the woods. I live off Hwy 74 on the way to Lake Lure. While not a regular church going man I did go to Calvary Episcopal once. I used to coach at Cane Creek Middle School and about half the kids were from Arden. Keith, Squamish rocks. I did feel like an oldster. Everybody looks about 25 and they're all on bicycles or roller skates or something (of course Asheville's a lot like that, too). I had the best sockeye salmon I've ever tasted while there. Shannon Falls was amazing. I was camping on the shores of the sound a few miles south. Gorgeous. I'll definitely return sometime.

Keith, I also wanted to add that, while the Icefields Hwy from Jasper to Banff is commonly referred to as the most beautiful road in Canada, all of us thought that Hwy 99 in BC was the most beautiful road we had ever seen. You are a lucky man to live in such a wonderful place. Loved the people, as well. Watching the Canucks at the Shaded Tree was a highlight for us.
