OK lent my bike to my friend & frat bro a few weeks ago because his Milwaukee moped ate the rear bearings. I get it back & gas is peeing out the left carb. OK stuck float maybe, dirty gas clogging things? pull the carbs, drain gas, clean, poke, spray, set floats (17mm). finally get to ride, NOT!!! after coaxing it to finally start, runs like absolute crap, stalls and starts peeing gas again!! what gives? back in, or do I just replace the carbs I never liked?

Something is holding the float needle open!! Is the bowl gasket still in place? A hole in the float??

Have a look at the retainer loop for the float needle and insure it's in place over the float tang. Most likely it's just a bit of junk hung on the float needle and a quick shot of carb spray will set you straight.

pulled & it all apart again. tested it before final assembly & no peeing. put it all together try to start it and the gas starts flowing like mad. looks like it's off to Rockwell cycles.

As its the LH carb, with the bike on the side stand any leak from the fuel hose T or hose its self may run down and off the bottom of the float bowl. I would check that out.

ok so I changed both float valves, set the floats, sprayed & poked everything twice, got it all back together & same thing. I'm totally baffled. 3 week wait for dealer to look at it. This is what I get for helping someone out, I still have his behemoth filling my garage to boot.

Where is the gas coming out? Air intake or between the bowls and tops?

Need to do more than change floats...due to the 10% ethinyl in todays fuel, glue like deposit will get up in the very top of the float seats..the very point might just have this problem..not letting your floats seat all the way.check up to the point again, the stuff gets like glue might take a little to get it all out.don't put the carb back on until you can close both floats by hand and no leaks, then you know all is good.the occational sea foam keeps the deposits from forming ,and also this don't seem to happen on injected bikes.
