I mentioned before that theres been much interest in my HD biased club since I turned traitor and bought the TBA last year. well, it just keeps getting better and better. I was there last night and one of the guys who had traded( lets not start that debate again,eh?)his TBA for a thunderbird told me he's just walked into the dealer and done a deal on the thunderbird for......a new TBA. Says he found the T'bird too cumbersome and missed the handling and general chuckability of the TBA he'd had+ his wife found the TBA much more comfortable. My My, this is causing consternation in the camp.

"My My, this is causing consternation in the camp." Always good to keep them on their toes.

Thats funny. I was at the local patch club show at the weekend and quite a lot of Triumphs there. Still mostly Harleys tho.
Had a close look at the new Storm and got to agree, it looks way to big and cumbersome. Thought it was ugly really.

While I know the T-Bird is a great machine it just doesn't do anything for me.

Well, middleweight motorcycles are always gonna be more fun to ride than are heavyweights...except for maybe really long-distance touring, where their added heft and greater passing-power comes in quite handy. (...welcome back, Al!!!)

At the risk of sounding like a Thunderbird salesman but I couldn't disagree more. I moved the other way and find it anything but cumbersome. It is in my opinion better balanced AND boy can the bird boogie.
Before you all beat me up I really love the America, Speedy and R3 (I am on the look out for a Speedy to custom) ALL of which are better than their HD counterparts (and copies). However I have a feeling that this will not save me from a good shoeing.

I understand that the T'bird has a committed following and is a very good bike-no doubt about that and I dont want to re-start a futile debate on the subject- but this is what the guy told me and what he's done about it , so I suppose that's what he feels. Have to say my TBA is still the bike outside the clubhouse which always has a bunch of onlookers -even after almost a year with it now, and this despite loads of Harleys and the odd T'bird.

Gee, someone should tell my Bonnie TBA that she hasn't the passing power of the latest road pig...cause she keeps smoking them...of course, pork is best smoked.

I was talkin' about the difference between the passing power of the BA/Speedy as compared to the T-Bird here, Bill.
I've taken the T-Bird out for a demo ride, and that baby started comin' on with loads of passing power[i.e. torque] way before my BA would start kickin' in.
And, Big-Twin H-Ds, of course, also have a lot more torque available lower down in their rev range, however their rev range is much narrower than are our midddleweight twins which, yes, you can rev much higher up in order to achieve about the same amount of passing power.
