What year is your bike? If tubeless, I like the Metzlers and I recall some of the more experienced riders also like them. They were what came originally on the bike.

If tube tire, I have no idea, sorry.

Did you check the tires section of the tech vault here ?

Conti-go? as in Scooter tires?. Hum. Kenda Kruz or Bridgestone Spitfires are in your fortune. as are ircs, pirelli rt 66 etc... However if you ride your motorsickle in a criminal manner then avon venums are the bees knees. michelin 880s taint bad either.

+1 for the Avon Venom. Metzelers 880s are sh**e in the wet.

Bridgestone Spitfires +1. They handle more than the bike will do + I got nearly 9000 miles on mine and they are still in good shape (plenty of tread) Just estimating I am going to get 12000 out of em maybe more.

I just got over 13,000 miles out of my IRC WildFlare 120/90. By far the most mileage I got from a front tire, the others were Bridgestone and Metzler.
The IRC still had some life left in it, but it was cupping around the tread sides (does that make sense?) and starting to show cracks in it.

Big fan of my Avon Venom's! Just put my first thousand miles on them. If I had to use one word to describe them it would be 'sticky'.

OK, stupid question.
I had to replace the front tire last year. The dealer put on a Metzler. I haven't changed the rear yet, still looks ok. When the time come, can I put an Avon Venom on the rear with the Metzler up front? I don't see why not.

Thanks!

yeah, mixing tires is a common thing to do, and it won't hurt the bike.

I have a Shinko Tour Master rear tire now. About 300 mi so far.
Does really well in the rain. I'm hoping the V-rated tire will
wear longer than the H-rateds at the 100mph I usually run.
Good price on Amazon, $77+7 shipping.

The Metzeler 880 rear I have on now has 13000 miles on it. It passed PA state inspection 1000 miles ago. The first Metzeler front tire I had lasted 12,000 miles, the second went 8000 miles. I haven't tried the other brands to comment on handling, rain, etc. But the Metzelers have lasted for me.

Kenda Kruz or Bridgestone Spitfires or Avon Venom

The first good for the price, the other two are the best I've had.

I'm going for a new ME880 front to replace my Lasertec... I'll report how it goes after some miles this summer.

My second bike, Reboot, came with a new set of ME880s, my first Metzlers ever (after several Avons) and I dig them. Bike handles great. Avons are still great though.

Well I tried to order a rear IRC from the bandit as they are having a $10.00 gift card offer for orders placed today. Had to drop the tire as the order form would take one of two promotions, i.e., gift card or ama discount of 10%. So I ordered the tube and a Kastar valve stem fishing tool. Used a $10 gift card that I got from the AMA for my annual renewal. $2.03 in bandit bucks. Will use the new gift card to buy a tire later on. Given that the bandit has a flat shipping rate of $8.95, it is notable that both American Motorcycle Tire and Motorcycle Superstore sell the tires out the door cheaper BEFORE the AMA discount. The Bandit still comes out on top for price out the door AFTER the 10% discount.

bridgestone spitfires, I get about 12000 out of each set, and am hell on them. They handle anything our bikes will without breaking the bank.

With Spitfire rear tires, when in the apex of a turn, the bike gets unsettled when narrowing the chicken strips. Tried a rear spitfire a second time too. The front spits handle fine.

Rear tires for Cinnamon Girl
Install date,
4/29/09, Spitfire installed lasted 11,032 miles
11/27/09, ME880 installed lasted 14,421
2/5/11, Spitfire installed currently at 10,123 miles. Looking for cord to show anytime.

Front tires, CG
4/19/09, Spitfire lasted 16,099 miles
8/22/10, Spitfire lasted 13,093 (had at least 2k to 3k left on tread, changed out for SWTF roll)
5/21/11, Spitfire currently has 6,541. Side note tire was installed at an odo reading of 66,666 Damien likes it hey mikey!

Point? The front spit handles fine and almost invokes the good old days when one would change the front tire at every other rear tire changeout... The rear? Nice tire, just not my taste.

P.S.: The last rear me880 on Vera Lynn lasted only 7,778 miles. Why did Cinnamon girls last rear me880 last 14,421 miles? Worn clutch on my Nor-East Rally via Montana roll last year caused me to accelerate slowly from stops. Major difference in tire life when riding like a fat n happy laid back I don't care about straight line g's individual. What's that saying? Stretching the throttle cables?

I have about 19,000 on my rear 880 and about 15,000 on the front Lasertec. Both are about ready to get changed out. Will anybody recomend using the front 880 or not?
Mileage done mostly riding the 108 miles round trip to and from work, 10 mile at 60, 53 miles at 75 and the last one in downtown Dallas.
I have 30K miles and shooting for 100,000 maybe more.

Avon venoms. Nice and sticky with great durability for the past 4 thousand miles.
