Ok, well I have been hanging around for almost three years now and keeping an eye on all of you. Let me tell you that I have found all of you to be a great source of reliable information, a down to earth group, yet somewhat crazy, and that BA.com is truly a great site dedicated to America and Speedmaster owners. I also find that living vicariously through those who can ride in non-Michigan weather get me through the winter. By the way, I was told by my dealer that the blue and white America's actually faster than the other colors. Is that true? Wait! Please don't answer that!

Welcome Ted!!! I honestly don't know how you stayed quiet so long but here you are, finally. Now, considering you've been lurking around for so long you HAVE to know the Cardinal Reds are the beez neez when it comes to speed!!

Welcome Ted. As much as they like to think of black as fast, the colours blue and white are often used to describe things that are fast, sharp and hot. But we'll let them keep thinking that, since the black bikes are more abundant.

Listen Ted.... a good portion of us are now officially suffering from CABIN FEVER and anything slightly controversial is welcome...... Are the blue and white ones faster?????? That's controversial...... I'd have to disagree....Black and Silver are. Oh btw, welcome to the forum. Comments are welcome. Tips greater than $10 bucks are appreciated. (is that soliciting?)

Hey welcome to the site Ted. Now dont you go believin everything those dealers tell yah about colors. It is a known fact that the black ones are faster, but you already knew that. It is as plain as the fact that teabirds smell like rice. Have to say Mate, one of the funniest intros I have seen.

Welcome! Color isn't as important for speed as flames in the paint! But blue/white is very lovely.

Welcome Ted, We can always use a good hand around here. It's been that way since Robert Wade came up with the idea of ba.com . One of these years we're going to find one As you realize many of us know each other, first in a virtual sense via the internet and then at rallys coordinated by the local inhabitants. I've made more friends than I deserve and have met a bunch of folks and haven't run across a ringer yet. The colour debate pretty much begins & ends with Cardinal Red jh

Welcome to the ranks, Ted! I know I'm not the only member here who discovered this site first, then decided that the America or, in my case, the Speedmaster, was the bike I wanted to own and ride. You already know that this place is the definitive source for nearly anything you might want to now about one of these motorcycles. It's a toolbox, owner's manual, and life support system, for those who chose to use it. I'm passively watching to see how the forums and memberships change as the models evolve, first with the 865cc engine, then Fuel Injection, now the styling changes incorporated for 2011 models. Some of the standard answers of the past will no longer be applicable. The forum will adapt. We will all still have a place to slip off to, when for whatever reason we are not out on two wheels.

Hmmm how fast is my bike who knows.... is it faster than a red / black or blue one. Who cares I do know that the silver, graphite gets far more looks from people they cannot believe a Triumph looks just so damn good. Why speed when you can pose like a haddie

Hi Ted, and welcome to the forum. It is a proven scientific fact that the BLACK 2007 models are fastest (By a considerable margin) . Amsoil is the only oil that should be used on these machines (it being superior to all others) Fin Lube EP plus is the only chain lube recommended for use.

Welcome aboard the ship of fools, Ted. You should have joined sooner and look forward to some chats here and there...starting with this one. You see, it's spikes that cut through the wind and make the bike faster so I'm sure mine's got ya beat . Welcome!

Welcome Ted Dealers will say anything to close a deal, so lets look at the science. At the molecular level, different colours have different surfaces, with different drag coefficients. So two colours will cause an uneven drag over the machine, thus affecting the aerodynamics. Now as for colour, we all know that visible colour is reflected out of the light spectrum, the rest having been absorbed, so black means that all light has been absorbed. So the following equation proves black is the fastest Light = Energy Energy = Power Power = Speed I rest my case

You know what I'm picking up here is that most of you "think" the black America/Speedmaster is faster. Is it something in the paint? StevieB by the way comb yoour hair people are watching.

Aah, but ya see Ted, you've just disproved Bryn's "Black is faster theory" here!
Yep! 'Cause I'll bet the reason you wanna get that black paint off your hands is 'cause that black paint is slowin' down your typing speed just a little, huh?!
(...now, IF you'd like to speed UP your typing a mite, then simply paint your hands Cardinal RED!!!)

Ted, just one more thing on the colour debate...
We all know red is the best colour, as in (for example) "Red sky tonight, sailor's delight." Right? Well, the same sort of thing applies to us Cardinal Red owners as in, "Red bike today, biker go like he||!"

He didn't say just what he was looking for in those backgrounds now, did he
As to the speed/color discussion, here are the facts:
Speedmasters are faster than Americas, Bonneville Americas, or whatever whimsical name comes along for them.
Among the Speedmasters (note the name, SPEEDmaster), the black ones are the fastest.
Should be clear now.
