Hi Guys
Can anyone tell me if the long slash cut exhausts are worth fitting or not ? i know there is a lot of opinions out there and i just wondered if the mufflers are any good or not as i want a bit more sound but not too much.
I have a Davida helmet which is so good i cannot here the Boss talking !!!and just want to hear my engine.
I have also been a muppet and tried to remove my ignition key cover the wrong way and broke the top plastic tab.
I am wondering if there is a chrome or highly polished stainless alternative to replace it or if i have to pay Triumph Stealer prices to get another plastic one ??
ANY suggestions would be more than welcome.
MANY Thanks

I have a set of long TOR's, louder than stock not as loud as others. I like the stock look to them!! You can try... http://stores.ebay.com/PinWall-Cycle-Parts-Inc
You can look under Bonneville or Speedmaster.

Hi Bryan
I.M.O. anything sounds better than the stock pipes.
Long slash cut TORs would be a vast improvement, they sound so much better than stock, though not obnoxiously loud.
Personally I'd go for the short TORs (makes rear wheel maintenance easier) and they look the part.
As to the ignition key cover, as far as i'm aware nobody makes aftermarket ones.

I have experience with short tapered TORs. The sound is good... much better than stock. There were two types of TORs made no matter what length or style, and they were either the straight through glass pack variety, or the baffled pipes. I run the glass pack version but other members may chime in here with thoughts on the difference in sound between the two types, if any. On a side note, I notice my glass packs getting louder over time... it's okay, I like it! Still not too loud, only if I open 'er up really.

I have the long TOR's, and have been told by other members here that they are pretty loud in the company of some Specialty Spares, D&D's, and the like, but I don't know. I don't want for anything louder, I do know that. Quiet is a luxury I would take any day, if I could get the same performance and fuel economy. (I put my stock pipes back on for a week, and the fuel economy went south.)

I think it takes a while for the pipes to "season in", too. Last year at the Georgia Rally, when I went off road on the Cherohalla, I knocked a chunk of carbon out of the right side pipe, an area about the size of a half-dollar (seen one of those lately?), and best I can recall, it took another year (roughly 10k miles) for that area to carbon over again. That one silver spot inside that pipe really stood out and reminded me of how fortunate I am that the get-off wasn't any worse than it was...but I do think that the sound of any pipe is going to change somewhat as it carbons up inside.

I lost a heat shield in Georgia this year, off of the same pipe (don't ask), and though I notice it every time I see it, I really have not had any "inquiries" about what those silver hanger tabs are there for....and it certainly is not worth spending a lot of $$$ to replace the pipes for.

I like them. I think they sound just like TRIUMPH intended.

Like the hot-rod she is.

I agree. I am currently running the long straight through version TOR’s on my 04 Speedmaster. I think these pipes sound sweet, quite when ya need it and loud when you crank up the throttle. Sounds like a Triumph to me.

I’ve had several different sets of pipes on my 03 America, TOR, Specialty Spares, 32” JC Whitney turn outs, and currently stock modified.
I’ve ridden with others, Bubs, D & D, Epcos, Thunderbike, Secpters, etc,etc.
IMHO the TOR’s look as good and sound as good as any on the market. Although I loved the Arrow exhaust on the Scrambler I rode last summer at demo days, sweeeet, If you like loud 

When I first bought the bike I was very dissapointed with the sound of the stock long pipes. All I could hear was a very busy sounding endgine.....sounded like a sewing machine run amok on steroids. Drove me nuts. I ran down to the Triumph dealer and ordered a set of long TORS.
It took a month but after I had them installed I was pleased somewhat. I still sought some more bark to the bike. I grabbed a long drill bit and I had at the last baffle with gusto. I drilled a buncha holes in both rear baffles and now I have the sound I want.

Refined and low key at low RPM's and under gentle accleration but THEY SPEAK WITH AUTHORITY WHEN I CRANK ON THE POWER. As far as I am concerned they are just perfect now. An iron fist wrapped in a velvet glove.

Some folks on That Other Forum are fond of dissing TORS. Ignore them. Proceed & you'll be happy. I have experience with both long & short TORS, & of the two I prefer the longs.

Easiest thing to do? Just order one from your dealer or BikeBandit.com. That part can't cost that much....

Good question. I just ordered some long slash cut TORs, and found that there are different part numbers for EFI and carbs. A9608101 is for EFI, A9608026 is for carbs. Not sure what the difference is.

Don't the EFI pipes have an oxygen sensor in 'em?

Hey Keith. The oxygen sensors are in each header pipe, not the mufflers.

Yeah, don't know. Both part numbers list for the same price. It's a mystery

The difference between EFI (2009+) and carb (2008/earlier) is the position of the heat shields. If you put carb pipes on an EFI bike, you will have a big gap between the exposed clamp and the heat shield (kinda ugly). The heatshield is supposed to cover the clamp. If you have an EFI model use the EFI TORS and get the dealer re-map (cheap/easy) so it doesn't backfire due to the increased flow.
