To my buddy, Tom (TomSpdMstr). I think the new battery that was installed a couple weekends back convinced him to buy it. Anyway, I am down to one motorcycle, and it ain't a Triumph, so can I still be part of this group, or do I have to shuffle my sarcastic butt over to those nose-in-the-air people over at one of the Beemer sites?

Please welcome Tom to the party.

Yeah John, you can stay as long as you promise to just keep the under inflated rubber side down!

No. Go away.

(Kidding! I wish people would stop asking that. Like we've ever turned anyone away, even when they are breathtakingly stupid enough to sell their Triumph ...)

Well at least you let him have a great test ride to the AR rally.

Actually, you might have something there, Paul. I think riding the rally was what convinced him to buy the thing. He figured he already had $92.00 invested in a new battery, so why not pony up the rest of the funds?

We sealed the deal last night over tasty chocolate-hazelnut martinis like a couple of froo-froo sailors on liberty in San Fransisco. (His wife Meg makes one helluva froo-froo martini.)

You have a trump card now. You can always plead temporary insanity the next time you get in a bind. Selling a Triumph is documented proof!

Did you notice how I made sure she was three martinis into it before I pulled out the check book. How smooth am I!

Welcome to the fold Tom. Now your duty is to make John regret selling the bike as much as possible! (You know, keep telling him how awesome it is, how good it handles, how it gets so much attention, on and on.)

Welcome Tom, its always nice to meet someone new who has seen the light and become an owner of a Speedmaster. The SM is obviously the faster bike when compared with the America.

Now John, what were you thinking???
I guess you wanted your mate Tom to join us and you will come to your senses and buy another speedy soon.

IF I buy another bike, it will likely be either a Kawasaki Concours 14 or a Yammyhammer FJR 1300. The Little Rock Triumph deal;er closed this past year, and I'd prefer to have something where dealers are plentiful for the brand.

Then again, that T-Bird PES has sure is sweet, though.

Thanks everyone. I tried not buying it for a year and failed miserably.
After riding 800+ Rally miles in 2 1/2 days, two weeks ago, I really can't say anything bad about it. It's a good looking, good performing, honest Bike. (But you already knew that!) Looking forward to many more miles!
Cheers!

Welcome to the club, Tom. As for your poor, poor, temporarily distracted friend, he'll be back. (Keep thinkin about that T-bird, the one that ain't an upgrade but is still part of the family).

Triumph does very little to promote the brand here in the states. Most of the time I get "they still make triumphs?????" I really dont get it.
I would never sell a triumph then replace it with a jap bike. If you are going to be a blasphemer you should just go all the way and get a Harley.

What the freak, John! If you are going to get one of those rice sport tourers, wait a year or so and hold out for the new Triumph 1200 Trophy. That's the market they are aiming for. You could come to Tulsa for service.

Hey, it's perfectly okay to ride a BMW with the rest of the metrosexuals. As mentioned in the 214mpg thread in Other Bikes, there's more to riding a bike than soul. Right?

In a couple weeks, the Beemer group I joined is going to have a rally in our bright green safety vests we Beemer types wear whilst riding to go get mani-pedis after stopping at the Starbucks to get amped up on lattes and cappamochachinos...

Or you could service it yourself.
I have to order all of my parts here with 3 dealerships in the Houston area. So just get them from british customs or one of the many other online suppliers.

I guess I missed the tire thing. maybe I am glad to have it sounds less than manly.

You see those safety vests here in Houston a lot. The funniest thing is that it is usually over some old school looking black leather.
like a gay s&m biker concerned with safety.

Could be military. I believe they're required to wear a safety vest.

Is that standard Beemer attire? Oh, and maybe do the Starbucks/mani-pedis thing in reverse so you aren't too shakey and restless for your beauty stop... some of those instruments are sharp!

What's a "mani-pedis"?

Do I need one?

Should I care?
