today my son was at work and fell off of a 30ft ladder that was on 15ft of scaffling so he fell 40some ft. he broke both wrist, and both ankles, his heel is shattered and they are talking that he might lose his foot (the one that was almost backwards when he was born, bad club). he is in surgery right now and i am waiting here while his mother and wife are at the hospital. i am going nuts and trying to keep my mind occupied but this has been tough. it wasnt that long ago my youngest daughter was in a bad bike accident broken neck and collar bones, 2 weeks ago my wife was laid off after 10and 1/2yrs and now this W.T.F.???? my son is very active (sports and other outdoor activities with the kids), he is a painter that does very high end work faux, and venetion plaster type stuff. there is only him and his buddy that make up their co. so of course there is no workers comp and of course because he has 3 daughters and a wife that dont work there is no insurance. i am not looking for sympathy just needed to tell somebody and you people are my extended family so who better. this just sitting here by the phone waiting is driveing me nuts but i have to be here now for other reasons and being that his mother is there tonight and i was there earlier there really isnt a need for me to be there now. i dont know how i am gonna be able to handle this if any of the senarios in my head come to be. to tell you the truth i am usually pretty calm and cool in most bad situations but this has me by the butt.
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Keeping all of you in our prayers. It is amazing the stuff that can be done medically now! Right now is not the time to worry about costs...hospital might have resources to help you there. He should be fine, but it will take a while to hear that. Take care and don't forget to take care of yourself!

Geeze Myke, that is tough! What can be said... thankfully he didn't perish from the fall. But the ordeal will linger on as he gets help and heals. My thoughts are with you and your family through this difficult time. Thanks for sharing!!

Newt,
I am so very sorry, but thankful your Son survived the fall. My prayers and thoughts go out to your Son, you, and the whole family.

Suzy Newt and the clan, Lynn and I love you. Man, I know it is really tough to listen to me saying it will work out, and that your son will be fine, and that this will be a distant memory soon enough, But newt, you of all people can grasp the idea of long walks, the hope of tomorrow, the joy of days past. Hang on to that with that great big ole heart of yours and mrs. newts.

That's tough news. Glad you're son is alive, as that is one nasty fall!!! (OMG!) Prayers are coming from here, for sure. Hits a little close to home here, also. My son is involved in our new house building, and with three stories and heights of thirty five feet or so, I worry about him when he is helping my crew. I don't even think too much about myself falling, but I sweat bullits to see him on a tall ladder, a dad thing. Tell your son that we're all pulling for him!

Myke,
From the height you described and the injuries sustained, Angels surely cushioned his fall. May they continue to watch over him during his recovery.

I wish I had something wise to say but I don't just go for a ride and pray man. In times that I can't take I ride and pray. Something about being alone on the road with nothing but the sound of the wind, and me and the Maker sets me at ease. Our prayers are with you.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Prayers sent...Tish is doing well, living with her Mom, and has a boyfriend of about the same mental capacity. She has 2 of her kids back in her custody, and working on the baby...See, things do and will work out with prayer....This too, will pass!

Heck Newt,
A little humo(u)r is about all any of us really has...... Like back in my red rock canyon' cowboy days, when someone got tossed off their horse, knocked off their feet by a cow/heifer, lit up by a too close lightening bolt, everyone was real quiet and helpfull until it was determined they weren't dead & would be probably pretty much be alright, then the bad jokes started........ Human nature
Following my little mishap a year ago if I heard it once I heard it 100 times "You know you're not in your 20's anymore!". I'd bet your son is a lot closer to his 20's than me, or in other words "piece of cake man"
