In the Land Down Under the Devil rides a Speedmaster...
...and behold it is good.

Although he rode through the valley of darkness, he feared no evil, because he was painted black and therefore the fastest in the land.

I hope you enjoyed the pics of my speedy as much as I enjoy looking through yours.

Great bike, of course but also a great arrangement of pics. Nice post... really enjoyed it (along with the captions)!

I like the skull caps on the dash. A nice bit of detail.

I'd like to see a close up of the paint on your tank. Also, is that skull (with the red eyes) by your air cleaner coving something, or is decorative? I'd like to see another pic of it also, pulled back just a bit.

Do you call your bike Legion? Just wondering?

Hey Brent,
I recently did the Freak conversion but then I thought
the K&N filters look better and probally work better
without all the chrome grills and plastic covering
them up.
After taking them off and not being sure if I should
put them back I have left that bracket hangin there,
So I had one chrome skull left so I put it on the
bracket but I will probally take off those brackets anyway.

The red eyes are photoshopped.
Last but not least I call her "Speedy".

I will try to show you a single pic of all of the motorcycles I have owned. Most of these are rice burners so I do apologise but they are part of my motorcycle history and may be of interest to some of you.
Some of the photography is of the day so lacking in quality before being scanned to the puter.

At this time I purchased a Yamaha FJ1100 and it was stolen from me before I ever got a photo of it so it is missing from my story.

Now that I have my Speedmaster, I will never need to UPGRADE!!!

Felt a little inspired today when I found this old brass spider. I drilled out the sucka and used him for a new choke knob.

What a great collection to have or have owned. Z9, Kwaka triple (250??), Z1R and of course the ZZR11

hahaha thats a Mach3 triple 500cc, its the baby brother of the widowmaker which was the 750.
I owned most of these bikes one by one, either trading them or damaging them beyond repair. You know how it goes. There was a period of about 10 years when I did not own a motorcycle but I will never let that happen again.

This is a really old photo I found whilst going through an old wooden box which belonged to my Dad. He grew up in Hungary and I believe this to be him on a motorcycle, probally the first bike in our family. I don't know what it is but maybe someone could enlighten me?

OUCH!!! That hurt.

But whatever dos'nt kill you, makes you stronger or at least a little more carefull.

Steve, my guess is your Dad's bike was probably a pre-war Czechoslovakian-made CZ.

(...btw, you've owned a very nice selection of motorcycles yourself...thanks for the pictures!)

Thank you Dwight. I would say that you are 100% correct. It actually means quite alot to me to know what bike that is as my Dad has long since passed away.

It is a pleasure to be part of this site where I can share at least the pictures of what I have always had a passion for which is motorcycles.

My father saw a 1951 CZ for sale last week at Dapto, 95% complete. He called me as I'm looking for something old to restore. The old guy was selling all his bikes that were stored in his shed, he wanted ~$1500.

If your interested I can get you some details?

TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.

Nice.......Black Speedmasters have been the choice of noted persons of interest since the beginning of time.

It is thought that Moses rode a Black Speedie when he parted the waters and led his people out of bondage.

When Jesus was seen performing miracles he did so from the saddle of a Black Triumph Speedmaster.

The devil trembles in abject horror at the very thought of the Black Speedmaster.

Nothing in recorded history has ever outstripped a Black Speedmaster in terms of the COOL factor.

The brass lizards, spider and the brass handle bar ends were all part of a collection of antiques I inherited belonging to my Grandfather who has long since passed away. In a way he lives again through me displaying them on my speedy. It was the battery cover made for me by Bob that gave me the idea to combine these handmade brass pieces with my bike. Besides I live in a land full of lizards and spiders so it makes sense.

Stevie,
Saw the Bundy bottle top caps on your bar ends and just new it had to be a rider from down under. Just loved the use of the skulls on your tank. Where did you score those skulls from and how did you fit them to your tank?
Cheers

Like the brass lizards. Hey in the background of some of the pictures I see what I believe are some old Ford cars from down under. Can you inform some of use from up north what models and years these Fords might be,if Fords. Also great old pictures of the old Kawasakis. Use to ride and repair an old H2 triple of a buddies years ago. Kick starting that old bike would crack the front of the leg pretty hard when the foot peg would drop down, which happened quite often on his bike.

Hey John,
You are correct that I am in Oz. I have a little place in a suburb of Gosford. If you ever come around this way please drop me a line as I would love to ride with some like minded brothers from Bonnevilleamerica.com

The skulls I picked up at a small motorcycle store in Taree some years ago.
I have not been able to find them anywhere local but have seen them on the net at http://www.skullmanonline.com/skull-headlight.html

They are easy to instal as they have a threaded bolt in the back with a nut. I used them to cover up those ugly black thingys on the console.

Hey Michael,
You are bringing back the fond memories of kick starting that old beast. I wish they would have kickstarters on our new Triumphs as that would be very cool.

As for the old Fords in the background, I can see three in those shots that are Fords.

The one behind the Suzy GT250 was my brother's 1976 XB Fairmont wagon. It was a 5 litre or 302 cubic inches V8.

The one behind the green Kwaka 9 is my old 1971 XY Falcon 500. It was an auto on the column and had an inline 6 cyl 4.1 litre.

Finally my favourite one is the one with the white Z1R Kawasaki. That was my 1978 model XC 2door coupe 5.8 litre V8. It was my Mad Max car and I was always going to paint it black but never got around to it. Quite a collectable nowadays.

This is at Road Warriors Cafe in Mt White. The Vulcan belongs to a good mate Barney.

The solo seat look is quite cool but unless I get some kind of rack I will have to put the pillion pad back on.

Looking at all your photos of the mods you've done I must say I like the way you've utilised stuff that hasn't all just been bought over the counter and bolted on.
I especially like the thin brass strip on the speedo.
When I bought my Speedmaster it had about 3 grands worth of stuff added by the previous owner and was not really all that cool so I removed some of it till I got the look I'm happy with. eg. the windsreen , crashbars and stock mirrors that hung out the side of the already wide bars.
