I live in a northern proximity. Realistically, I have a solid 5 months to ride (this year 6). And yet... AND YET I say... I wore the tires off my Trophy and today on my TA, I gave my new-this-season Dunlop rear tire a close look and what do I see? Not much tread left, that's what I see!!! NEW THIS SEASON!! What the heck? The only explanation is I must be riding a lot... yet still I have time for music, gardening, working (some, but not much) and a host of other tertiary activities. Two sets of tires in six months... do I need to see a therapist?

Can we think about this or get back to you later. I wouldn;t want to jump in to early. I imagine Dwight can think of something useful to say on the subject.

Ummmm...no, Keith. I don't think you need to see a therapist.
Well, I suppose that IS unless the guy who usually mounts your tires for ya also coincidentally possesses a Doctorate Degree in Psychology.
However, I seriously doubt there's all that many guys out there who you'll find which will really know all the in's and out's of Metzlers, Dunlops and Pirellis, and ALSO those of Freud, Jung and/or maybe Pavlov!
(...but ya never know...I suppose that COULD happen, eh?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well Keith old buddy, I can assure you that at this point in time there does not appear to be any reason for the therapist. Just stop and think about the situation, you obviously enjoy riding, why else would you have 2 bikes?.
And you are goining to need every cent you can get to keep tyres up to them babies, so don't waste your money on therapist, indulge in "motorcycle therapy"
Then there is another looming problem on your horizon, that being the frosty winter of those northern climes. At the end of hibernation I suggest another big dose of "motorcycle therapy"

Kieth, Did you have the Dunlop D404 tires? I tried those this year and my back tire wore out in 5 or 6 thousand miles...maybe less. It's insane how fast it wore out. I will NEVER put those on again. If you look at the thread with my new paint job...all kinds of buddies on here were giving me crap about the rear tire. The front is just fine which is strange. Usually it's the front that goes first! I just put new tires on today...IRC Wildflares. Dave(Roadworthy) has gotten great mileage out of his so I'm giving them a try. On a side note: 8 more days!!! You know what I mean

Do you need to see a shrink about your riding? No However, you might need to when you find out your winter supplies are delayed http://news.uk.msn.com/world/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=155021056 BTW, I know you're in Canada, but it had to go through the USA

Nope, I spin a Dunlop K555 WWW on the rear. I have noticed the Dunlops are pretty sticky 'cause I've been able to corner pretty hard on rainy roads. They are a relatively soft compound I guess.
Meanwhile... 8 days, eh Chris? Yer on the home stretch!!

Well Gordie, you and others assure me I am not crazy (by conventional standards) and indeed have entrenched myself in healthy practices... even if it does means wearing off a whole lot of rubber!! I like the sounds of that... I AM the Therapist. So chime in all my brothas and sistas... the Doctor is IN!!!

That I cannot answer, but you might want to look into getting one of these.

piece of carpet on the ground and a couple tire irons and a couple pieces of leather is all you need. You can break the bead in a vise among several other ways. I know how to make a home made lever type bead breaker too. Put the leather between the rim and the tire iron to prevent marking the rim. When installing the 2nd bead if the tire is a tube type partly inflate the tube, this will prevent pinching it. I have a big rim clamp tire machine with a plastic head that I use. Harbor Freight sells a manual tire machine cheap. Harbor Freight used to sell one like the one in this LINK but I don't see it now. Harbor Freight machine with motorcycle adapter Harbor Freight machine Can't find the adapter on the site.
