Hey all--! As of yesterday, I am the proud owner of my own "limey" ( as my Harley riding Uncle calls it...) and am looking for a few tips. It's bone stock right now, and I need pointed in the right direction to where to go for quality parts and work done. I live in a condo here in the DC area, and that makes working on the bike a little limited. Also, any ideas as to WHAT I can ( or should ) do to my bike is welcomed as well. (brand of pipes, or what kind of pipes, etc.) I'm a firm believer in loud pipes save lives... This winter, I'll be putting on new pipes, mirrors, and rear shocks, but beyond that, I realize the possibilities are limitless. Also interested in local rides and/or Triumph clubs around the DC metro area.
I love my speedmaster. I traded it straight across for a '07 Hayabusa.
I'm diggin' this site. Tons of info here. Thank you!

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I can promise if you hang around here, you will learn a TON of info. The first thing you need to do is get rid of the Air Injection. Your headers are going to start bluing if you don't. fast eddy is a great guy and will always go out of his way to make sure you're happy. Also, newspeedmaster.com is a great site for goodies. There's more but you'll find out as you hang out. New pipes will increase output. Pipes are going to be a personal choice. I like Sceptre pipes the best. Nice and loud and a cool deep tone...not raspy. You will need to rejet after getting new pipes. These bikes come a little lean from the factory I think to start with but you will DEFINITELY have to do it after pipes. Your goal is to get your bike breathing better right now so AI removal, pipes, and maybe you might want to remove or drill out your airbox and get some decent filters. Keep asking questions as you go and you'll get great answers and a ton of help.

Hey ya Robert... welcome! I already like you 'cause you got great taste in bikes and know where to go for the best ideas on the planet!! You must be just as smart as me (but you can suffix 'smart' with 'a$$' when is come to me... just to put things into perspective)!
Yeah, it will be fun to do a bunch of stuff to you bike. Now maybe some folks around here are tired of hearing me talk about turfing that pathetic horn for a REAL blaster but I have to recommend you do that right away. Let 'em know you're there!!! Make that driver spill the coffee or drop the cellphone! Wake 'em up!!
Okay... now you can go ahead and do cosmetic/performance/comfort stuff to your bike. Look forward to hearing from you more!!
Live to love, love to live.

first happy B-day..DunnSpeed
we have to becarefull..on the advise we give to the new member here... with the new fuel injection bikes...... every thing you say is right about what to do with the carb bikes ..but this is a 2010 EFI bike so it will be much different so i don't know if you needs to pull the Air Injection???
now I know yes you can put different pipes on but you need to take it back to the dealer so you can get it remaped..no jets on this bike...same if you do a air filter mod it will need to be remaped..and with the new ones you mite want to look at a tune boy to get all you can out of this bike..

I have the 09 America with EFI and have been reading the posts about removing the AI and air box changes! I guess any engine mods. would affect the EFI mapping. My questions is: Would one of the after market manuals, Haynes or Clymer, be OK for general maintenance? I haven't been able to find one for 09s! Engines mods are above my pay grade anyway !!!

Welcome & Congrat's! I live in the Western MD area. I used to be on the DC Rat's list, but I don't know how active they are these days. Baltimore has two groups, the "Pete's RATS" and a splinter group the "Baltimore Renegades". I ride with Renegades when I can get down that way. Manuals, the Haynes manual is actually pretty good. If you are not real mechanically inclined, that's probably the best manual for you, it goes into greater explanation on processes than the factory shop manual. Quote:

Great community here. I went for a ride today in the perfect weather. The bike is so friggin' comfortable. I'll have some photos posted up once I do a few things to it. Hey Mountainman-- I've been called a 'surf-rat', 'gym-rat', 'music-rat', and now, (rather fittingly), simply a 'RAT'. Life is grand, brother!
