Anyone try aftermarket petcocks once they added exhause, FREAK and rejetted? Is it worth it? Any before/after dyno results?

You don't need it, but it sure is pretty. I have one on my bike, but I also have a chrome addiction.

Ditto. It is pretty and has a nice working mechanism. Had mine on for a few years now and like it every time I turn it. Surely that must translate to "goes faster" right?

Ok well some people say you need them once you do some mods other say you don't....just wanted some true feedback because of the different answers.... That dose not mean you have to be a dick about it.... I'd rather you not answer unless its useful information

I run one .. would rather smile at the shiney..
and know i wont every lean out at the top end.. from starvation.. fuel flow is very important.. especially at the upper reaches.. would be real real expensive to need it and not have it .. IMHO ...

Are you planning on doing motor work to your bike? I have the 904 with ported/polished head and oversized valves with bored carbs and high flow billet intakes, so for me the Pingel was worth it, but I think if you stay with a stock motor, even with airbox gone and pipes and re-jetting, the stock will flow fine. But will it give you more power by itself? Absolutely not.

Uncle charlie: that was not directed at you, it was for the few who post just to post and don't help anyone. I get sick of that after a while. Why post if you are not going to help the person out. So for that I am sorry, but it was not directed towards you, but those among us who act in that manor.

Roadworthy thank you for that great USEFUL info. No plans to go inside as of now...just freak and exhaust unless something beyond my control occurs...

Actually, jyatesmp, an improved visual and mechanical action is a worthwhile mode to our bikes, and comment for a member. I stated this because this is my serious evaluation after 5 years of use. Took quite a lot to get it installed without leaking though, there
are a lot of threads related to that subject. That may qualify as "useful" information if you check. But If this input makes me a "dick" than so be it. Nuff tough talk in the world, like it that it does not make it into this forum too often.

I know that was not directed at me. And, I understand your
frustration. I just thought name calling isn't needed.

If you want my opinion,
The stock petcock will probably flow enough fuel for any
mods you would do to these bikes. Some folks have had leak
problems with the pingle mount.
Peace,
Uncle Charlie

I have gutted pipes and rejetted carbs among a few other mods and I have never starved for fuel ever. I have had my bike at an indicated 120mph more than once and never had a fuel issue so unless you want the chrome there is no need to change the petcock.

I did several searches before I posted this one... Seemed all other threads had mixed answers... This is the first one I have seen otherwise... To me it sounds like a lot of trouble to work out to get it to work I don't think it would be worth it unless it added performance or your petcock was already leaking....I did not want to insult anyone with my comment but people come to this forum for answers and information...not comments like tell me you are kidding and if it's shiny it makes it faster...to me if that is the answer to the world than you should just keep it to yourself because it may keep others from asking a question in the future... Putting someone down for asking a question is not what this forum is for

It wasn't meant to put you down I'm sure. We have a great bunch of guys here and they were just joking, as we all do at times. Keeps the forum fun and I hope no one is ever afraid to ask anything here, only stupid question is the one not asked.

Some people here take their chrome seriously.
So do I. But a little chrome petcock never
appealled to me. Wow, that sounded weird???

I've never heard of anyone here that did a dyno run with the stock petcock, than installed the pingel and ran another dyno run.
I'd say stick with your stock piece unless it is leaking. Mine leaked a little when it was a year or two old. I tightened that little phillips screw and have not had an issue since (close to 40k on the bike since)

Not wanting to change the thread but I agree with jyates and it is a good point. This site has generally been proud of it's support for those less experienced than some others. This means all questions are valid even if someone else can't remember when they were still learning.

Lets keep this place supportive and everyone will be happy. There has been way too much work put in by numerous members who understand we all had to start somewhere.

The rule is, no question is a stupid question. It's just a question asked in good faith and generally old salts like Dog for instance will answer in good faith. Let's keep it that way hey?

Moving on now..., let's grab a beer

jyatesmp -- sorry, you are right too. I too look for this sight and the help we can get with our bikes. I learn every day from it and it is the only place I have found consistent help. Your installing the Freak kit was one of the best performance mods I've done, along with re-jetting and opening up the exhaust. Never been on a dyno but I would love to. Seat of my pants says "fast". Peace my friend.
