Looks like I have to scrub my plans for the rally this year. It's my own fault for procrastinating too much with the things I have on my plate. The bolt on stuff is fine but the troubleshooting that I want to do is going to be really time consuming and it's bugging me enough that I don't want to take extended trips because of it. I also planned to put more time into plotting out a route since this trip would have taken me from here to northern VA, up to CT, NH, ME, back to NH, over to upstate NY, over to southern OH, and then back home but I negleted that as well and I really don't want to slab it between all my destinations. Maybe I should plan on doing the NorEast rally since I haven't done that in a few years and incoporate some of this trip into that one (better get cracking now if I expect to be ready).

Remember, always be yourself. Unless you suck.

Greg,
Ride over to the pole barn and get an expert to sort it out for you!

If'n you ride to Stony Brook State Park (the Nor'East rally) this year you are welcome to team up with me on my Utah loop...I thought so. But we can ride back together for sure.

Kinda blows that we both are going to miss the NH Rally. Love riding that route and being in New England. Such a lovely area once we clear Massachusetts.

P.S. Don't forget about the Lake Marion retreat July 31 - Aug 7

So who's going this year?

Not sure if I'll be able to make it now. This week has turned into a hay week. I can't pass up this weather.

If I don't get lost on the way there then I'll see you all for a beer on the saturday evening.

No bike sorted out unfortunately otherwise I would go for the full weekend.

Nevermind I'll bring along a bottle of Scotlands finest produce to make up for it.

Hey whats going on? Rally? Matt and I got hotel reservations for tomorrow and want to know if we are still on. Plans for a late supper meet up? Called your cell twice no answer, no call back. Nothing posted about eats for Saturday.Getting ready to cancel with no info or responses. Don't want to waste a vacation day and hotel costs for nothing. As Pink Floyd say "Is there anybody out there?"

After 3&1/2 years, I've gone back to work and have to work
on Saturday. Might still zoom up for the Sat eve festivities.

I was the first arrival at the first NH rally.
Ron(Fishercat) was there. He had to take off
and left me standing in Rob's driveway.
Aunt Cathy came home from work, and wouldn't
get out of the car because I was there. Rob
told her that's Uncle Charlie, and all was
well. Now I'll call Bucky, and see if I can
get him there.

Going to give up the rally to cut grass. Yup sounding more and more like a Hardley rider.

Grass will stil be there next weekend and taller too.

See more of you tomorrow.

Well just want to say a big thanks to Rob and Cathy. Always good to see them. The weather was perfect. All you people who skipped this year missed the best so far as the weather I think. Not to hot not to cold. Except in the mountains it did get a bit cool Although the group was small this year we had a great time and Friday's ride was beautiful. Nice 300 mile loop. Almost long enough for me. Matt hopefully will post some pic."s as he had the only camera. Again Thanks to Rob and Cathy.

This years "farthest Traveled" award clearly goes to Graham Haycock (Strechermonkey) who traveled all the way from England to join this years discernibly small crowd...

Great rides! and a chance to meet some new faces! And with the smaller crowds I got the chance to sit and chat with people (something that just doesn't useually happen)

Glad that those who could make it did!

Sad that others couldn't!

Ed (eprunier) a local boy from nearby Auburn NH joined us for the "dealer ride"
and Steve (two wheel n) and his lovely other half Sarah made the trek from SE MASS
Matt and Bucky from CT (Bucky made it up for the Sat PM meal and beverages and was OTR before I awoke this AM, a short stay but great to see him.)
Matt was the only one who remembered to bring his Cam on the Friday ride so we stopped frequently to catch some of the vistas on "film"
Brian (lizardking) was reserved in his rides and I think he only made it to the Canadian boarder once or twice during his 2 day stay...

But he did offer this advise to others...If you are on a very narrow road and the sign ahead warns that the road is about to narrow... beware!

Graham showed up on Sat PM 'bearing gifts" and hung for the night...Great to meet him and listen to his tales!

(Ask him about his encounter with His Royal Highness the Prince Of Wales, sometime!)

Hope that those who made it had a good time inspite of the smaller crowd and missing "trappings" T's and patches and such...

thanks to all

My thanks to Rob & Cath for their ever ready and ample hospitality. It was great to see all. Whenever I read Graham's posts from now on, there will be an English accent in my head.

My apologies for the Irish goodbye this morning. There are a few things in life I am good at, but sleeping well isn't one of them. I was wide awake at 5 am, and by 6 was itchin' to go. I'm proud of the fact that Bilbo did not sing a song to accompany my squeaky floor board dance, and where's the bathroom light switch light show.

I did the slab Saturday, so today I took the very long way around -- 111 to 119 to 9 into Bennington. I do enjoy those roads less traveled, and to peek into folk's yards, if only to see things like - a 500 gallon garden style watering can complete with handle and spout on a front lawn, the early Mustang front end grafted onto the gable end of a one car garage, as if the Mustang was flying through. Then there are people's junk yards - I was born raised at and between two junk yards, so to see one at someone's yard always makes me feel right at home. I often wish I could stop and poke around in the rusty ruins for a while, without being a shotgun target. I stopped for a smoke at a crossroads where an old roadside hamburger joint was boarded up for what looked like many years. An abandoned house is behind it in the woods. What tale would explain a prime location as this left in limbo, with nary a for sale sign to be seen anywhere? Makes the little mind wonder what the story is / was. And then there was that absolutely perfect motorcycling weather - a crisp cool morning when the Sunday's 'world' was still asleep, followed by sunny, dry, & 80s temps. It took me 8 hours to do a customarily 2 & 1/2 to 3 hour slab ride. A great day.

What a great time meeting some of you folks from across the pond!

A big thank you to Rob and Cathy for their warm welcome and fantastic hospitality extended to me.

As always there has to be some navigational issues with me going to any BA event and this was no different. Finding Litchfield in New Hampshire was a breeze thanks to a State trooper giving me some helpful tips.

Finding my way around Litchfield was, errrr eventful, especially asking people by the side of the road 1. What town am I in? and 2. how do you get to Rob's house? I even tried to ask questions in "Americanese" so they might have a chance of understanding me. Never mind, I got to see a bit of Litchfield and as always got to where I was going eventually.

I will admit to getting back to Chesire in MA ok but then spent a good hour trying to find my father in law's house.

Hopefully with the forthcoming move and pitfalls of getting property sorted out I'll be able to get out to some more of the American rallies in the future! Blimey I might even be on a bike the next time.

Once again a big thank you to Rob and Cathy for their splendid organisation.

Rob and Cathy, thank you for hosting this event and for making a new guy feel welcome. Although it was a short ride on Saturday, it was a perfect day with some cool people; I had a great time and only sorry that I didn’t hang out for a couple /few afterwards. Next time for sure, I look forward to doing it again.

When lost I find it helpful to stop and scream at people on the sidewalk: "Where the f--- am I going?" It doesn't do much in the way of navigational enhancement, but it sure makes me feel a little bit better.

I'd say you did well to find the place. I've been to Rob & Cathy's 3 or 4 times now, and still get lost at that last mile, {insert > old people suck factor} including Saturday when I forgot about Oak street and did a loop around the block. The year before I passed Robyn Road 3 or 4 times and got so desperate that I stopped and asked 3 guys who were trying to resurrect a clapped out Harley in front of the school. They gave up a collective / unanimous "I dunno." Kind of knew that was coming...

Good seeing Rob and Cathy again. Thanks for you hospitality. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. The White Mountains were beautiful, the riding was great. I did 975 miles total. It was so nice Sunday that a 3 hr 15 min ride was extended to 5 1/2 hour ride going home. Here's a couple of pic's.

Sounds like I missed a winner. I missed lasdt year due to surgery, and this year it fell on the same weekend as my bosses' annual drink-a-thon pool party. Since I missed his last year, and he let me keep my job...I owed him, sorry guys and gulls.
Glad it was a great time for all. Maybe see some of youz at the NorEaster.
Cheers!
