Hey I was thinking about getting the 2010 Speedmaster. I had an '03 America for a couple of years but sold it in '05. Is there much of of a difference with the ride from the two bikes? Any input would be appreciated.

Brakes and bars and seat are the only differences. But the America is cooler.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

If you mean between your old bike and the new 2010...the biggest diff would be the 2010 will be fuel injected vs. carbs in your 03

Mate, this week I test rode both a Speedmaster and an America. To my way of thinking the only real difference is that the Speedmaster pulls you closer to the bars thereby giving less wind resistance. In my case I rode it with straight arms whereas on the America they were bent at the elbow. The idea being to set you up better for speed. I found that uncomfortable and that I tended to grip harder leaving my hands sore. Being new to such bikes I was probably gripping to hard. The America certainly seemed to be much cooler and more comfortable to ride. Given that both bikes are identical in most other aspects, I've gone for the America and pick it up tomorrow. However, as many wiser riders have said to me in this forum, try both and buy what feels best for you.

Don't forget to get a red one so that you will pick up the additional 5 HP and extended fuel milage.

Oh so that's the reason my hands hurt so bad....it's the handlebars on the Speedmaster that are killing me. They do make me lean forward a mite as compared to the America bars.
I guess I'm gonna hafta get a new America Handlebar and some longer cables and spend some more money cuz I like the looks of the Speedy and the 2nd disc brake on the front and the classier black look of the engine compared to the glitzy chrome stuff all over the America model.
07 Speedmstr, Long Tors, bags, sissy bar and rack, windshield, engine bars, 2 ww lights, 2 fast eddy stickers and a .45 ACP.

Thanks for all of the input, somethings to consider. Couple of other questions, Do you think I will notice the increase in displacement from the previous bike? Does the fuel injection make for better overall performance? And last question, Will the older tanks interchange with the new style? Thanks
BTW I thought the blue America's were the faster bike!

You wont be able to interchange the tanks as the fuel pump for the EFI is inside the tank.

+1 on the Rivco risers, they make a world of difference. The new EFIs are a bit "snatchy" on the throttle, which when combined with the torque of the Speedmaster can make thongs a bit sporty if you're not used to it. I'm hoping that pulling the AI will take care of that. Try one on, but careful, you may land up taking it home like I did.
2010 EFI Speedmaster,AI Removed,Polaris Belmouth,K&N,Long TORs,Rivco Risers,a clock and a Roadster screen.
