I have been dying to clean up some of the "clunky" areas on my '03 Speedmaster. The front seemed like a good place to start. I've never liked the front fender.

Thanks to Frank for great deal on chrome America wheels. I've always had a thing for the Kury Akyn axle spikes, or shin rippers. My bike is already heavily customized so these changes need to be over the top. Much more to come.

Hey Paul, now that you have those nice shiny wheels, are you going to do something with the lower forks?

grind them off and polish them up with a buffer. You can make them look like they were never there. A powder coater can put that silver High heat coating on them, and they'll look like polished aluminium that will be maintanence free. Just a thought, I did it on a couple of my Bultaco's on the tripple clamps and they came out great.

Yeah, Chip, I've done lots of that but I always try to leave the origional parts intact for this bike since it was my late brother's. Just in case I wanted to put it back, (not that that's too likely). They need to be chrome for this project.

Hey Paul, Can you point me as to where you found your axle spikes? Thanks if you get the chance.

I used Kury Akyn, but there are vendors selling them for$35 free shipping on ebay. Our bikes require some modification (nothing permanent)to make them work since we have flush mounted axles and these require 1/2" nuts or bolts to clamp onto. I tapped the rear axle on the left side and ran a 1/2" bolt into the end. Then I drilled the inside of the hex in the front axle cap nut and ran a piece of 7/16" threaded rod through the axle. I welded 1/2' nuts to 7/16" nuts and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for putting the gas filler and racing stripe down the middle so that my right-side filler and left side racing stripes will look significantly different.
