I took the Bonni in for a 6K service and decided to wait until its done. During this time the salesman offers me over the odds for whats left on the bike and a 59 plate America with only 97 miles on the clock (not a demo either) for £5500.

My good lady has never liked the bonni, she says its too short and feels too unstable, she does however like the America (its a bit bigger and longer).

Apparently the guy bought it a few months ago and went to take it out the garage yesterday and dropped it on his leg, snapped the footpeg but no other damage, I think he got a bit of a fright as it pinned him down(go figure). Dealer said they would replace the footpeg. Its black with no extras on it that they have a record of. So its gonna cost me on accesories Still it will be worth it in the long run.

So, I went for the test ride yesterday and I was impressed how much bigger this bike is to my Bonni. I loved the sound and the road presence and it also seemed to 'fit' just right.

Turns out that a 'slight drop' now equates to the guy ran it into a ditch! The bike now has a new brake lever, indicator, footpeg, TORs (Shorties) and mud guard (Fender). This does not put me off the bike tracked well enough and it has saved me a few bob in buying exhausts. I haggled a bit and got a sisy bar /rack and a set off pannier rails for free. I also ordered a screen, engine bars and tacho. Thats me set I pick it up on Wednesday

Roll on the summer

Regards

Jock

I live in Dunoon, which is off the west coast. I'm hoping to get down to the Dent rally this year.

Welcome Jock!

Sounds like you made out rather well there.

I can't believe though someone would buy a new bike, drop it after 97 miles and then sell it.

Anyhow I'm sure you'll find their loss is your gain.

Congrats on the bike!

I have seen a few very low milage bikes go through Cascade Moto Classics. There was a Speedmaster the the guy had bought it dropped it gently a few miles down the road. His wife was behind hime and made him ride back to the dealer to put ip up on consignment. That is the bike that Nickaroo now owns.

My grandfather rode his Harley for years, but a close call with a car at an intersection scared him enough that he put the bike away, then sold it to the Sheriff down the street and has never ridden again. He is a bit jellous of my bike, but won't even ride on the back...even in the driveway.
When someone gets a good scare, (Or the spouse does) the bike looks different and has to go. Good deal for the rest of us though. Sounds like you have a great deal! Where are the pictures?

Aye, its no changed much...still throwing it down with rain and the beers over priced lol but I would not move for the world. We have the best biking roads in the uk by far. Still Canada is probably like Scotland with cheaper beer

Aye it is Jock. although some of the beer is questionable and more expensive too. but the roads and scenery well its similar, i'd hate to pic one over the other .mind you the weather here wins hands down.
my folks used to rent Vulcan cottage in the summer ,fished off the ferry pier and down at Kirn(sp) pier ,thats where i acquired my fishing addiction . luved that place, you could spend yankee dollars there too (American Naval base near by) ahh the memories .awerabestmate.

Great, now I've got it going through my head, could be worse it could be Agadoo, oh no!!!! not that too!!!

Can't wait till Wednesday, its forecast for snow but I don't care.

Eric, what part of Glasgow are you from, the posh end with inside toilets and coloured TV licences or the not so posh end where even the mice go about in pairs and a cat with a tails a tourist.

I got the bike at MCS in Renfrew, not a bad service so far but time will tell. They said the RAT lads and lassies run out from their most Sundays.

I'm dyin to get on this thing, the big problem is going to be keeping it down whilst I run it in, what is it not above 50 for the first 500 miles.

Actually, it's just run at varied RPMs for the first 500 miles. So dont run at constant RPMs for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Originally from the East end I grew up thinking all cars had bricks for wheels....even the Dobermann dogs went about in packs for safety ....was over for the Cowal games last summer .... now thats a fun day out and fun recovery period....I think the whole of Dunoon got drunk and stayed drunk for the weekend.....

Well I did it. I picked up the bike today and its the dogs....I'll post some pictures soon (do we have a photo post?)

Can anyone tell me what the rubber dodah bits on the consol are for?? They are not mentioned in the handbook.

First impressions of the bike is that it pulls like a train and has ten times more road presence than the Bonni.
So all in all I am one happy teddy.
