Okay, he won't be riding for a couple months at least, but he has a new steed. Dale from Billings, who some of you may know as Roadtrip, is selling all his earthly possessions and moving to Kosova permanently. When I heard he was selling his low mileage 2007 Speedmaster, knowing that John wanted a Speedmaster next, I played Chuck Woolery and hooked them up. Yesterday John came through Helena to pick me up and we went to Billings to pick up his new bike. It was a killer deal, even without all the accessories. If John didn't buy it, I would have.

We got back to Helena around 8:30 last night and John crashed (oooh, bad turn of phrase there) in my spare room. After a little World Famous Helena Hospitalityâ„¢ at Steve's Cafe this morning, I shot some pics and sent him on his way.

More pictures on my blog: http://www.friarsride.com/freedom-rides-again/

2007 Speedmaster, approx. 5600 miles, 2 baffles drilled out, driving lights, clearview windshield, Corbin seat and backrest, K-drive quick release sidebags, Biker's Friend rollbag, Kuryakyn tourbag, Haynes manual, etc. etc. etc. Poor thing isn't even broken in yet. Heck, Dale even threw in a gallon of oil and a filter. John is set up for a while. Needs to ditch that AI, though.

Wat 'r ya trying to do... steal his thunder?!

The following I address to Mr. Freedom J.

CONGRATULATIONS COWPOKE!! And hey, you're looking good in that picture, and glad you found a red bike (I know how much you like that colour) and a Corbin (nice), and great other accessories, and nice mileage, and... WOW. I'm happy for ya man and I sure look forward to seeing the two of you this summer!!

Yes, I'm stealing his thunder, or steeling it, as it were. Don't worry, I asked permission before posting the pictures.

Congratulations Freedom, I like the new Speedy a lot, don't see many with that color. AmyLee and I are just going to have to head to the North West, hopefully in the near future, and take a ride with you and Friar John. You take care and hope this is a short winter.

Thanks for all the support & well wishes. BA.Com rocks. Like FJ mentioned, Dale made an offer, including a bunch of extras, a reasonable person couldn't refuse. I felt a tad guilty & was tempted to up his price. Thanks Dale & best of luck.

FJ has been very helpfull the last 6 months. Yesterday's +700 mile trip, T. Falls to Billings & back to Helena about wore me out. FJ took the wheel, whilst I offered insightful commentary. To top it off, I got back here, hit the bathroom, a knock at the door, my Harley mechanic neighbor quickly assisted with the offload. So a Triumph twin again resides in my garage. I'd heard that ba.com moder-tator wages are cut in half if you don't have proper twin.

The (purchase & price) timing was perfect. I'm not realistically ready to ride today, but given the season and this is Montana, I have 3 months to continue my rehabbing which is going better than I deserve. From the beginning, I never really considered "hanging up my helmet", this deal fell in my lap. Thanks Dale/Friar.

As Dwight inferred, as much of a party the combination of pain killers & nurses were, it's an experience I don't want to repeat, so I'll be smarter the second time. Granted, I was borderline brilliant before

I pondered a Thunderbird/Tiger last Fall, however riding parallel twins since the original red one in 1976, these things just suit me

Thanks again

jh

Congrats to you John. Good to hear you haven't hung the helmet. Enjoy every mile.

One question since there has been so much Metzler discussion of late - Is that rear tire an original with the stated miles or is that a new tire. If the former, it looks very healthy - way better than any I've had at those miles (I'd be at about a half-life or less at that point). If the later, that would serve as an 'low' example of a wide variation of miles one might expect. No real point to be made other than to show those who question tire life that there really isn't a standard range one can expect. Its primarily all in how they've rolled about the pavement and how they're maintained, then the compounds and construction second

Anyway - sweet bike and best of luck with it!
