Thought I'd move my rear brake reservoir. Before: After: I've done some reading about bleeding the system if I lay the bike down on the left side, but to me it's worth it IMHO.

I moved it down. I didn't know that was the original position. Makes more sense though. BTW the dirt provides an air blanket effect making it more aerodynamic. Think of a golf ball's dimples.

You do know they moved it up because of brake problems and air in the lines if the bike lays over? Or something to that effect, anyway it was moved up because of problem in the lower position.

Eeh, don't worry Clay! I think Bob has got THAT possible eventuality already covered there TOO, ol' buddy! Ya see, that "aerodynamic dirt" which you see there will ALSO act as a stabilizing force and will keep his bike from ever falling completely over TOO! RIGHT Bob?! (...why Clay, I'm surprised you didn't think of that, dude!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Not to mention provide a thermal coating for faster warm-ups and quicker throttle response.

Oh, you wanting to move the reservoir too John? Yeah, don't really like it in either location but...
might as well leave it in it's current Custom location.

Much better looking, and if you're aware of what could happen if you drop the bike it's a go. I'll have to think about doing this myself. Never really liked the "new" position.

If ever the bike tips over because of soft soil or what have you, it's highly likely that the rear brake will not function until properly bled. Happened to Biker Ed. Just sayin'

Mine went down in the soft soil once and it didn't need to be bled. Another time it went down on the kickstand side with me on it and didn't need to be bled then either. Just sayin'

Today I was looking at my bike in storage and wondered if I could fit that res somewhere behind the oil cooler and really get it outta the way.

Dave the fact that it did not happen to you is great...and it should not happen on a simple tip over ...
but the fact that it does and did happen is the bigger issue...
I don't get why people want to mess with their brake... looks over stopping...

I'm not arguing the fact that it can and does happen, simply stating that it doesn't happen all the time. I went in for the recall and the bracket won't work with my oil coolers, so it stays in the original location. Personally, I don't care where it is, as long as I have my shiny chrome cover on it!

Poor design of reservoir with outlet offset to one side then requires a mod to raise and rotate, nice bit of engineering?? Kept mine in the lower position and fitted the rizoma ( http://www.twinshack.co.uk/prods/pc23.html ) small reservoir in black and it is a quality product. Took a bit of bleeding but nice. If i were to repeat I might buy one of the slightly larger items with the window in. Regards texasbrit
