I'm thinking about adding a raised rev. limiter w/ a remapped ign.,+3 degree advance module. If I disconnect the T.P.S., would it bypass the remap and be locked to the 3 degree advance? Right now my T.P.S. is still hooked up (I don't mind the burppill of the exhaust) but was going to disconnect it to see how the bike runs.

You will appreciate the raised rev limit on the 790 engines. The disconnected TPS would lock the unit in the wide open throttle mode which would see the advance. Not sure if that would affect anything. You could leave the TPS hooked up and see an improvement. Might need to go to a higher octane fuel if you get some pinging/preignition. Won't hurt to test by disconnecting the TPS for a short while.

Thanks Gregger, do you have one installed? I don't know if I need 3 more degrees advance, usually performance engines like a quick advance not necessarily more (I'm not saying that mine is "hot Rodded" up, but right now its more or less stock) in the future I like to get a BB kit, bored out carb, cams, ported head etc... I like to buy parts that I will be able to use now and to take me to the finished project.

Yes, I got the increased rev limit only. My old limiter kicked in at just over 7000 rpm, just as the bike was really accelerating. I had the limiter raised to 8500. Haven't tested the top end yet since the bike looses steam over 7600 rpms. The 790 engines make their horsepower higher up in the rpm range than the 865s. It's nice not having to always look at the tach when you're accelerating hard to prevent the dreaded cutout.
