Here's a few quick pictures of my Polaris Bellmouth (Polaris P/N #5410834). I bought mine on ebay for about $12. I can't comment on any gains from this specifically, but with the K&N, jetting and new pipes it really made the bike come alive. This fits our bike perfectly in place of the very restrictive Triumph Snorkel.

It's rubber and fits in the exact hole? At $12. that's hard to beat. I might have noticed a little air flow improvement with my Norman Hyde but it cost WAY more than that. I kinda like that a bellmouth makes it look more finished and complete rather than something missing.

It fits perfect! If it didn't have Polaris stamped on it I would think it was a stock Triumph part number. I LOVE the Norman Hyde but couldn't justify that kind of cash when this route was available. Looking back at the auction I just posted it was actually like $14 + S/H...but still a really fair price.

I only ask because on the other forums the guys there say they cut theirs in half. The belmouth flares on both sides so they cut it in half to remove the flared side that would sit inside the airbox http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-talk/25442-cheap-and-good-bellmouth-polaris-modification.html

I didn't need to. mine flares into the airbox perfectly. although i suppose you could, to me the way I did it seems like it would make for smoother airflow into the airbox

Just checked with a San Antonio dealer today. This item is listed as an "Inlet" in the Polaris catalog. The part number shown was good. A special order part at $15.95 US, might as well order off the internet. That's just this dealer though, and they were a half and half selling Star also.

Do you guys believe there is a performance advantage to using this rather than removing the snorkel and leaving it open?

I do. It may be minimal but making all the changes - no snorkel, UNI filter, and bellmouth, gets the most you can out of the airbox and is very noticeable. I wanted to keep the airbox and my dyno runs are better than people that have replaced theirs with way more expensive alternatives. My service dealer (D&D Cycles) believes airbox removal is not necessary to get the best performance out of the bike. BTW, I bought the Norman Hyde bellmouth which is WAY more expensive than the Polaris. I assume the Polaris would have close results. No regrets on my purchase and it now looks like it was supposed to be that way. One other thing - you can actually hear the difference, so it must be doing something. Norman Hyde bellmouth

Yes

and

Not a neck snapping difference, but it very likely speeds up air flow into the intake region of the air filter.

Thanks for the info. I love the idea that D&D believes airbox removal is not needed...I would prefer to leave it on as well. Think I'll try the Polaris bellmouth. That Norman Hyde one is pricey...though certainly a better piece.

I figured there would probably be some difference. Hadn't thought about the venturi effect in relation to this. Thanks for the input!

Shoot me a PM with your mailing address. I'll send you the other half of the polaris plenum. The plenum can be cut into two separate pieces. I cut mine in half and using a dremel sanding drum, rounded out the airbox snorkel's oval hole. I want to leave one air box stock so I have the plenum if'n ya want it.
Procedure: Place the plenum in the hole. use a pencil to trace along the squashed edges. Careful of not going into the area where the plenum will not seat. Remove plenum. sand. repeat until you have the rounded hole at maximum.

The way this is going all those open airbox holes will be filled soon. Added benefit - the bellmouth helps keep water out of the airbox in bad rain.

Warning!
I installed the Polaris Bellmouth. Two days later I had reason to remove the seat and found that the ECM connector had come loose from it's storage position and the connector head was lying in the bellmouth - effectively blocking 80% of the intake. With the snorkel it can't do this even if it comes off it's storage mount.
I hadn't noticed any thing different riding the bike (it may have just happened before I discovered it). In any event it's fortunate that I had only done about 10k since the installation. The little bu88er is now zip tied to the frame.
I don't know what damage this could cause (blocking the air intake) but it's worth checking and doing the zip tie thing.

Once upon a time in a land far far away a rider discovered his tie down strap had found its way into the snorkel passages. Moe recently,a different rider was concluding the plenum job, zip-tying the wires and anything that even may think about shifting under the saddle/on top of the airbox.
Excellent point herr foglefar.

Hi all, just for your interest. Before I put my K&N filters on which btw I love, as I do the extra space. I had done that mod of cutting out the section at the bottom of the air box and adding a Unifilter. Anyway, my point is a couple of years back I travelled for 4 hours through what was called the Newcastle floods with that mod and my bike didn't miss a beat. (see vid below) I'm also old enough to know that one study or viewpoint is a good start to verifying this or that, but I also understand that there are numerous factors that determine good dyno figures too which has been discussed more than enough. Again, I think the bellmouth configuration is a great mod with it's your beaut zip ditty doo dah venturi smasharooni effect but, and there lies the question, to really I mean really determine which way to go is best needs numerous studies properly conducted by non for profit agencies with no kick backs. I'm not trying to say one is better than the other because I don't know. What I do know is many a company will push their product with their "paid for" studies to get the result to help sell their product. I bet K&N could probably do the same. In saying all this, it would be nice to know one way or the other but in reality there is probably not much difference at all between one or the other. What's important is we comment on our own experiences and let people manage their decisions from then on. Bob has mentioned his experiences and I'm just doing the same to help even up things a tad. Anyway, here's that rain I was telling you about. This type of rain I meanOne last thing which is but interesting I believe, that day I knew I would always have a shield to hide behind because my mate who didn't was saturated when we did finally stop on the northern beaches of Sydney. Me, just a few wet spots on the edges. Blo#dy beautiful. It was like "singing in the rain" Brilliant ride safe

After installing the bellmouth intake, I noticed that I had to turn my A/F screws out a quarter turn to cut back the deceleration popping at around 3k rpm. I don't need a dyno run to tell me it's getting more air. I think it helps out more in the mid to top end of the throttle.

When shopping, make sure that the Polaris dealer sells or services SNOWMOBILES. The dealers that only carry the ATVs and such are not able to get the Bellmouth part. That may be why Powermotorsports can't get the part even at a great price.

I'm in Vancouver, BC and got mine from here http://seatoskymotorsports.com/Don't remember the exact price but it was around CDN$18, they ordered it for me over the phone and had it in stock in a few days. Recommended I also cut mine in half before installing so I didn't have any additional rubber inside the air filter. Pipes are with Chevy605 as I type, re-jet on the way as soon as I get them back

Surprisingly, yes! Check this out! Also their jetskis are very popular in the northern states and in the southern states there is snow on the molehills we call mountains for a nanosecond each winter.

I have a Polaris dealer 5 minutes ride from me.
He sells ATV's.
I'll call in next time I go that way.
I can't wait to see his face when I ask for a Snowmobile part when it's 32c outside.
