That would be no problem, There is an electric sensor for the idiot light in the system already. You could pull that out and put the sending unit right in there with no mods other wise. Could even put a T fitting in there and have both if there is enough space for them.

Thanks guy's. I still got the gauge and line so I think when I get a banjo bolt the correct length I might have another go and see...

Don't forget a normal double banjo is too short if replacing the one behind the cyl. The stock fitting is about 1/2 again thicker than a std. banjo fitting. I turned my own but I have heard you can get them from the guys that sell gauges.

I worked the size I need to be M10x1.25 x 42mm long. This is the OEM 28mm + 11mm for the new pipe and washers...

Look at the banjo fitting not the bolt. The OEM fitting is 1/2 again thicker than normal meaning the recess area on the bolt is as well. The thread is correct but you will find that a std. banjo bolt isn't correct but hey it's your bike, good luck.

The sending unit is a banjo fitting also.Could you drill and tap the head of the banjo bolt to 1/8' pt?

fitted Brents gauge few weeks ago and it shows about 65 psi with 4000 revs and hot engine and 20psi on idle(1100 miles on one go) was really hot

Hey Dog - I like your OPG bracket fabrication much more than the commercial ones available.
Is there a reason for the dogleg shape of the leading edge of the bracket or was it something that just came naturally? Seriously though why the curvy bits?

And do you forsee any problems with a version of the bracket where the oil line comes through a hole in the bracket (at 90 degrees to the bike) so the oil line is much shorter and a bit neater?

No on the shorter oil line, I like the look of the line coming around the front but it would be easy enough to fab one with that hole if someone wanted to.

On the older bikes there is a wire retainer there that I made my bracket to take the place of. That "dog leg" retains those wires. Later models have the wires routed differently.

Hi all, I've resurrected this thread cos piper (Bengt) had a pic of his bike in a recent thread and I pm'd him about it cos I liked where it was positioned compared to mine. You see I didn't have the skills or eqpt (yet) to machine my own oil pressure gauge (opg) so I bought the one that sits lower down near the casing. It works well but it's a little bit too much out of site out of mind for my liking. Btw, having read the thread there was a little bit of difference to some of the readings the various gauges were showing, so if anyone was interested I'd have to agree with Ian (dog) on what the readings probably should read. In this I've found my after Market job reads about 20psi or so at idle and more importantly around 80 psi when riding along.

Anyway, my bracket sits on the casing and i was wondering if there were any buyable brackets that would bring the gauge up higher and more in continual view. I can easilly enough buy a longer line for the task but was just interested if there was a professional aftermarket bracket out there that's all.

I suppose my wanting one higher up was because I do believe they are an important safety measure to protect my bike cos even recently mine put my mind at ease when the red idiot light came on. That was when I was riding a long trip recently in very hot temperatures out in a rural area of Aus when my regulator was playing up but hadn't flattened the battery yet. My point is, if I couldn't see the oil pressur being normal I would have had to take "red" idiot light seriously. Important info in anyone's language I reckon.

So, being able to see it higher up would make it easier to check I believe which is why I've asked my question.

It depends on your gauge Staffo, Some are made to be panel mounted (the bracket will have a hole the size of the gauge).Some are made to be surface mounted (they are held by machine screws on the back of the gauge) and some are held by the pipe inlet. If there is a manufacture name on the gauge, google it and see if you can find some generic bracket for it that will suit your needs.
