Pat's 1999 California Beer Hunter Expedition
Third Street AleWorks
Rating out of 5 mugs =
They have some very unique ales here at 3rd Street. They had a rye ale that really stood out. They also had a hefe weisen that was pretty tasty. The brewster/Head Brewer is Denise Jones (Mr. Jones is a very lucky man for sure) and she gave us a nice tour of her setup. The one thing that really stood out with her brews was the body. They were all very flavorful and had great body. Denise told me she accomplishes this by mashing at very high temperatures, almost 170° F in some cases. I recall the Octoberfest was the best example I tasted in the entire brew hunter tour that year. This place is worth a visit if you're in town. The food is also pretty good as well.
