The place you visited could have been Eagle Farm (The Royal Queensland Golf Club) if it was beside the river, or Mt Ommaney (The Mcleod Golf Club - near Enoggera Military Camp) or it could have been something further out of Brisbane. I wasn't in Brisbane in the 80s so the train lines may have changed/extended since then.
