Have been running a belt drive from QPD on my 04 Speedmaster for the last 25k miles. Been getting noisier for the last 5k miles of so - ratteling at the front sprocket. Ended up that the inner side plate of the front sprocket worked its way through the screws and was becoming unfastened. Tried to refasten with some thin washers, but then the sprocket rubbed - not enough clearance.

Used a 17t front sprocket. Definitely quicker now but higher revs running down the highway. I have a 18t I might try.

I replaced my 17 tooth.

I run a 19/42 set up on mine.
Ride her like a 4 speed with an overdrive.

I have thought about an 18 tooth on the front, but I feel like I do pretty good off the line.

Since you have it you should try it.

I no longer try to shift to 6th gear.

I like the 18 tooth myself.
