I would like to drill my air box but I'm not sure on where or how to do it. Right now I'm running Bomber exhaust, K&N filter,Bell mouth and all snorkle removed. Does size, number and location of the holes matter.

BikeBandit for carb needles, I have gotten better performance from T-Bird Sport needles with an opened up airbox, YMMV.

I was running Thruxton needles on mine with lighter slide springs from a Kawasaki Ninja and got great response and power curve

I suggest you shoe goo glue some stainless fine wire mesh screen on the bottom hole you drill. I was finding bugs and leaves and F.O.D. of all description in my filter after the modification. There are the baffles inside the box you can make go away as well, if you use a hot knife to remove the baffles, you will not have to deal with the plastic sawdust that will need to be cleaned out. With Epco exhausts, I was able to go to 142 main jets with the airbox opened up and a good cheap power curve gain. if you haven't already, the thumbscrew primary adjusters are a worthy investment too.

thanks for all the great advice, but i seem to be doing something wrong. i went on bike bandits web site and can't find any of the needles you suggested. ( it's tuff getting old i'm now getting back into it since the late 60's ,early 70's and so much has changed.)

Do your search under OEM parts for a 2007 Thruxton, then sub classification fuel and air, then pick carburetor parts, IIRC. BikeBandit Don't forget, you need to order two. Same procedure for TBS needles or even the lighter diaphragm springs Dave suggested. As you can see BikeBandit s exploded views can be a good resource, even if all you do is take advantage of the exploded views available and never buy a single thing from them..

Mike,

You might want to try the Triumph Twin Power "Breath" bellmouth before you cut up your air box. Opening the bottom has caused water ingestion problems with some riders in heavy rain.

Whatever happened to using a Polaris rubber Bellmouth, I remember buying mine for $8.95. And if you have a sharp knife and some hand/eye skills you can get two of them.

I ran with the cut out airbox (Polaris bell mouth top and bottom) for several year, thru all sorts of weather and massive heavy rains. No issues with water getting in.
Unless you are fording streams this is the cheapest most effective mod you can do.

Me too almost, Polaris on top and shoe gooed stainless screen on the bottom and I went through a foot deep Desert Flash Flood and had no water or any other crud being sucked up in there. If I still ran airboxes, I would repeat the same mods.
