Anyone got any ideas as to why such a huge difference in prices for the center stands Fast Eddy and some other vendor sells versus the one from TECbikeparts. I know they are made by different companies but is there that much difference in them?

The Rivco stand is a quality piece. I have no direct experience with the TEC stand.

Yes, the Rivco stand IS well made, however it's rounded tube and thicker deployment tab tends to ground much quicker while leaned over into turns than does the equally well-made TEC center stand with its flat-sided and tighter fitting(against the muffler) deployment tab.
(...and for the record, I've had a TEC center stand on my bike for the past two years or so, and I like it a lot)

alot would depend on what gauge material each one is made with, whether powder coated or std paint and where they are made.

Once again Michael, all I can say here is that I've found the TEC center stand to be a pretty stout unit overall, they come powder-coated, and I THINK they're actually manufactured here in the good ol' U.S. of A...though this last part I'm not 100% sure about. AND once again, I know for a fact that they DON'T ground near as quickly as do the Rivco units while you're throwin' your bike around in the twisties...which while this may not be of great concern to riders who cruise more than ride aggressively in the twisties(of which I do the latter quite often while also practicing my late apexing skills on each and every turn in the road...well, UNLESS I have to slow down to a snail's pace after gettin' stuck behind a freakin' Harley rider or three in said twisties, and who wouldn't know what "late apexing" means even if it jumped up and bit him on their big fat ass! ), THIS issue was the major reason I went with the TEC product over Rivco's, and with the better price point of the TEC units being what I consider an "added bonus" here.

Though the reply line does state my post as a reply to Dwight I assure you it wasn't directed at your reply at all. I wasn't aware that a cheaper centerstand existed for the ba or sm,I may have to pick one up!

TEC bike parts: $109.00, Fast Eddy: $279.00, New Speedmaster: $289.00. I don't get it but I do know I'm ordering form TEC. There can't be that much difference between the quality of the center stand that would warrant that much higher price.

No problem, Michael. You brought up some good points to consider, and I was just answering them for Bruce here, that's all.
(...and it seems he's now made a decision)

Thanks Dwight. I went back in the Bonneville America archives and read about some issues with the TEC unit. Dave form TEC replied to me today and they have made the changes that the users of the center stand had wrote to them about. Also there are no more old stock ones left so everything should be OK now. Mine is now on order. Bruce

Poor poor UPS. According to the tracking number for the center stand it was sitting in Concord, CA on Thursday. On Friday it was in Valdosta, GA but looking again on Saturday it was once again in Concord, CA. I bet they do things differently next Christmas season.

I recently bought a Triumph doo dad on ebay and following the UPS track # it went from Jupiter FL to Portland Or, Anchorage Alaska then Boise Id, Spokane Wa, Seattle Wa, Olympia Wa, 24 days in total transit and finally to the known center of the cultural universe, my front porch. UPS didn't make much money ($5.95) on that one. What happened to the Big Brown Truck service, did the Govt. take over upper management?

There's got to be a federal express joke in here, I'm just not sure how I want to go about it.

They got jammed in the Christmas rush. UPS is a good company with usually great service.

I agree, UPS is a good company and I understand things didn't go a smooth as they had in past years for them. I still prefer to use them or FedEx over the US Post Office. The center stand should be here Monday, as of 11 pm Friday night it was sitting in Jacksonville, FL. I bought it off of eBay from TECbikeparts, they shipped it within 24 hours of the order so as far as I'm concerned they get a five star rating for shipping and communication. I'm sure UPS and FedEx will do things different this coming Christmas.

Center stand finally arrived but as in posts from 2012 you still have to grind stop pins to make it work on a 2006 America. Not happy about that because I was told before I ordered it that the problem was resolved.

Received and installed mine yesterday. I had to grind down the spring tab on the stop bracket and also the Allen head bolts holding the same bracket down. Only way I could fit the Rinehart cans back on. The exhaust is also short enough that the foot tab is way out in the open. I might look into adding a length of pipe between the headers and cans.
