I guess I will be next since I ride between federal campuses...

OSHA recommends banning motorcyle use by school administrators

Oh... here is a thought, how about banning "illegal" U-Turns instead

omg. Yeah slippery slope. This is a legitimate gripe tough. Should be in the legislation forum no?

Since you have a vested interest in this, why not do a bit of research re cage accidents in similar scenarios. Then propose legislation that would ban employees from using automobiles as transportation to work-related activities.

Yes, it should be in the other forum... oops. Can you use your magic M and move it over there for me?

Edited to say: Thanks!

Thom,

Tiffany O’Donnell should write a letter to OSHA.

"O’Donnell is not only principal of the three schools, she started the campaign to get a place for Shady Cove-Trail youth to “hang out” after school and during the summer. Her efforts paid off this year with a youth center now run by the Boys & Girls Club. "

Of coarse OSHA is going to over step their bounds. They are a socialist government institution. Them a$$ holes can't manage to leave us alone.

Being a refined congress, your word choices are bad, very bad. Although the sentiment they convey are spot on. Can we not discuss this without violating the AUP?

Also, let's be clear that this is (so far) the Oregon state OSHA and not the federal OSHA. Whilst I do understand the concern about the cost of work related accidents, a total ban of anything is almost always a knee-jerk reaction and does not really solve anything. Had this principal been in a small enclosed vehicle, her injuries might well have been as severe. It would be a bad precedent should this body pass this ban; in the near term mostly for those of us that commute on our bikes, but eventually for all of us.

This case seems to be getting pretty wide attention in the rider community, which is a good thing. On Monday, I am going to talk to the head of our CDC riders group to make sure that we are all aware of this.

Sorry, I didn't know I was in violation of the user policies. I am not an anarchist or anything, I do hate government intrusion into our private lives. Be it local, state, or federal. I try not to get political.

Statistically, aeroplane is the safest form of transport, so I guess these OSHA people will eventually insist that runways are built at every school, and only employees with a pilots license and own plane will be able to do these jobs
