By popular demand, I am pleased to finally introduce my bolt-on solo seat mounting kit for the America & Speedmaster.

Solo Seat Mounting Kit

The kit will include the seat hinge, front & rear mounting plates and quick-disconnect clips & washers. All you need to supply is your own seat and springs.

On my America, I used a Le Pera solo seat upholstered in retro-cool red metalflake along with 2" barrel springs. Any solo seat with 7-3/8" spring spacing should work fine.

I will offer the Le Pera seats and most likely some generic black leather seat as well in the future, but for now it's just the kits.

I have yet to run the mounting plates over to the powdercoater, so if anyone wants a raw kit at a reduced price, you better call me quick.

/Mike

Hey mike, any chance I could get some pics of how it mounts to the frame?...I have a couple modifications done to the frame and under the seat due to my battery being relocated under my seat and im looking for some more info so I can coordinate the changes.

Thanks

You can see the rear plate where it bolts to the frame with the rear fender bolts. It sits fairly flat against the flattened section of fender between the struts. The front plate mounts under the tank's tongue. And the area above the filter/airbox is open and unobstructed.

Yeah i thought that was the bracket under there with the fender bolts, i have my battery bracket hanging with those 2 bolts. Could you PM me an unfinished price because the powdercoated price is outrageous to me.

Thanks

i can't help but agree!! one too many "9"s on the end of that price or the "2" in the front was a typo!! i appreciate fabricators but remember the model t!! simplicity sells!!

I make no apologies for the price. Quality costs, pure & simple. I guess if you all could get a clear look at the parts and see exactly what I'm talking about, then you'd a wee bit less cheeky with your comments.

I guess one could cobble together enough Chinese made stamped steel generic bit & pieces to mount a seat for 1/10th the price of my kit... but you would get only 1/10th the quality.

It is nice (a bit pricier) to have a "plug and play" kit and props on the design, but a Biltwell 4130 chromo made in USA hinge is only $44-50...add their finished vinyl covered seat pan and you're still only at $175 with the hard parts taken care of.

Not trying to be cheeky, I dig BC and shop there, but comparing like quality products raises an eyebrow.

Now a full finished kit WITH seat and springs for $275ish...that would open some wallets I bet. Maybe offer a leather option at a premium.

Thats kind of what I was trying to get at... the kit with a seat included would be goods.... but kind of like the airbox elimination kit, when you see how little it is for the money, you kind of think WTF.

but still a cool idea and I dig the look

are those seat springs chopped?...im wondering if thats the reason why the springs are not included. (Let the buyer figure it out?) it looks like normal solo springs would be too tall for the geometry of the bracketing. I'd also be weary of mounting to the rear fender bolts. If the rider weight is bouncing on them all the time it cant be good. Or if the bracket and rider weight rests on the frame at that spot instead, then is that metal on metal contact wearing away the paint on the frame just before the struts?

The springs are not chopped but off the shelf items. I initially did not offer the springs or seat because of all the options out for spring length and seat covering. The bracketry is triangulated as to not overstress the frame member or fender wellnuts and is made from very thick high-carbon steel. Nothing moves (bracketry-wise) that would damage the paint, and they are located in such as way that should one want to go back to a traditional seat, all of the contact points will be fully covered. I'll be adding some custom bolts to replace the plain Jane stock bolts since they are now visible.

I can not stress in the stong enough terms how well engineered this kit is and the level of precision of the welded & machined parts are. Again, no apologies for price... so I'll never have to apologize for quality. People who know me and the level of detail to my personal bikes know that I don't sell dreck.

All the raw kits are gone and the rest are at the powdercoater. I'll have them back by this time next week.

/Mike

I like the look. Did that to most of my H-D's and rode 'em all over the US and Canada.
