No joke. A centerstand would be a godsend. What's the deal, y'all?

According to the manual, the Bonneville and America share the same frame so why doesn't the centre stand from the first fit the second ?

I can only think that its the pipes that get in the way.

The frames aren't actually the same, else the forks'd have the same rake as the bonne's. As for putting the bonne's centrestand on our bike I understand it's not only the pipes getting in the way but also the much lower ground clearance.

Will fit which two bikes? Bonneville AND america/speedmaster? Or America AND Speedmaster?

Rivco does not list parts for the Bonne, and they do not list a center stand for America/speedmaster on their website yet, although it was in the 07 paper catalog Holly gave me back in April when they had my speedy for about 3 weeks working on a centerstand.

Any fresh news on the availability/pricing? I am now actually considering the cash outlay only so I can change my drive belt on long trips if the unthinkable happens (again).

It is for the Speedy and the America...not the Bonnie.

They have had their time line shifted by a provider in the process. It is scheduled for August release, but they are now playing their cards close to the vest having been burned before on the time line before that is out of their hands.

Having dealt with production people that do not know how to give accurate production times it is truly frustrating when your trying to provide things for people. It's not on RIVCO (though ultimately they suffer for it)

How 'bout a "bash plate" to cover the lower engine and oil filter? Always thought that was a bit vulnerable to an errant rock.

I was told by my workshop that the America is too low to have a centre stand and could scrape the road if you hit a serious pothole. The Bonny has higher ground clearance and isn't an issue. Sounds fair enough to me. Might be worth asking a couple of different reputable workshops for their ideas. It'd be good to know how you go.

That's not true if the center stand is built right. I know for a fact becuase I built a prototype and it fit between the frame rails and only added 1" to the clearance and no problems with the clearance on cornering.

However, I found it could not be made in the US for less than $250.00. I know Rivco uses the same basic platform and changes the mounts for different bikes.

Just thinking, what would an old style rear wheel stand look like on the Speedy/America ? Would solve the problem of clearance, probably be cheap to make and easy to fit.

Any thoughts from you practical guys ?

The Bonneville frame is different if you look in the actual shop manual and compare the two frames.

I'm sorry - I should have pointed out that I was only quoting your page to show that the part was not available yet.

I don't know what the manual says... but the frames can't
be the 'same' because the head angles are different. The
America/SM are lower, maybe 2", thats why the never fitted
a center stand for them.
