With all the publicity on the Black lives matter protests,it seems the D-Day landings in France June 6th 1944 have been forgotten .Without these landings and the human sacrifice that accompanied them .I dare say Black lives matter protests would not have been possible.

It's sad that despite all our country has been through, it won't be truly great until a Black Lives Matter movement is no longer necessary.

I don't think D-Day has been forgotten. At least not by us Boomers. My wife and I, long with thousands of others around Western New York, are going to watch a flyover of WWII aircraft this afternoon.

Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower issued a message to troops taking part in the historic D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944.

"Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is will-trained, well-equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. H. L. Mencken

D Day is ALWAYS worth remembering! Great respect and gratitude to the men and women of the US, Britain, Australia, & Canada, the French Resistance, and all the others who fought for freedom...

I did go to college 1/2 a day when I was in high school. I was way ahead of everyone else. I went to Lehigh University.

BLM is already unnecessary. They're not about equality, they're about dominance and retribution to things that (unfortunately) happened to their great-great-great-grandparents. They're self aggrandizing bullies and immature snowflakes that throw tantrums and hate and intimidate anyone that does not agree with their agenda.

OK... I just stepped down from the soapbox.

I saw something today that brought a tear to my eye. I was having a wonderful ride, the weather was perfect. Then I was slowly riding through a nice neighborhood and saw a flag. I had to do a double take and turned around to make sure I saw what I thought I saw. Sure enough. You know how the American flag has red and white stripes with white stars on a blue background? Well this person had sewn black strips of fabric over the white stripes. I just sat there on the bike and felt a tear forming as I was looking at the flag. I told my son what I had seen. He also didn't like what they did and said even though it is wrong and that he can see how bad it hurt me, he reminded me that both he and I served proudly in the military to protect that person's right to deface the flag. He was right and that brought another tear.

'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

BLM's title sounds innocuous enough, even admirable, but they are a modern day Black Liberation Army.
Just like BLA, their goal is anarchy. not reform.
(Think 1981 Brinks robbery.)

BTW, the National D-Day Memorial is in my hometown of Bedford VA.
(Because, per capita, more men that died in the invasion were from Bedford than any other city/town)
It's really a very cool exhibit and if you're in the area, well worth a visit.
Besides, the riding in the area is wonderful!

You're right, but even that statement has been twisted into "racism".

It doesn't take much of a twist.

Edited to add: I just noticed you deleted your earlier post. Was it too revealing?
