Happy Newt Year

Happy New Year, from Central California.

Well the temp outside is 0 degrees and we have 10 inches of snow on the ground. Sitting here in the house watching the new years come in sipping on a Makers Mark on the rocks. 2017 was a year of highs and lows.

Been a rough couple of days. My 23 year old nephew put a bullet in his head two days ago. He is gone. His mother passed about 5 months ago. Lost a sister in law 3 days before Christmas to cancer. Had a sister in law living with us for a month during the summer cause she and her daughter was homeless. Got her situated then had another sister in law move in for 5 months She was living with her daughter who passed suddenly. She just moved out December 15th into an apartment here in town.

Got my R3T in April. Went on some great rides and met some wonderful people and saw some wonderful places this year.. My company did quite well this year. My family is healthy.

It is life and we all live it.

Here is hoping that 2018 is full of happy miles. Be safe, love and be loved. God be with you all in this new year.

Billy, sorry to hear of the tragedy of last year!
My prayer is that this new year will have many more highs than lows.

That IS a rough series, Billy! Hope this year is kinder to your family. Everybody already knows about my poor year, culminating in the passing of my beloved wife. Ever since, I've been planning on making some kind of major life change. Still working on those plans, doing some research and so forth. The current plan is to move somewhere else, to start over without all the baggage that surrounds me. Maybe just wander around on the bike for a year or so. My middle boy is moving in to the house this week, with plans to "watch over it" while I'm out adventuring around. More on that later. Hope all my friends on here have a better year than me and Billy had last year!

Death is a part of life.

My sister in law had fought a long battle and was at peace with her end.

My Niece was a sudden sickness and sad.

My nephew had plenty of people reaching out to him, but he chose the bottle then the gun.

I truly believe God does not give us burdens we cannot bare with his help.

I wish you all many peaceful miles with smiles in this New Year.

New Years Day was exciting to say the least....

My son was driving back from Ottawa after being with his newborn son and wife for 2 weeks in the Children's hospital there. He was lucky to get the 2 weeks off to be with his new family but he had to get home to work Jan 2. On the way home, he drove over a patch of black ice (it was -30C), lost control and hit a rock cut head on at 100KM/hour. The air bag in the late model Ford 150 failed to deploy. He survived with no injuries other than a bruise from the seat belt. Police and people on the scene couldn't believe he wasn't hurt. The thing was, he had phoned us at 8:30 am (Hand's free I might add)to wish us a Happy New Year when he started shouting Oh no... Oh no then my wife and I both heard him hit the cut... then silence for several minutes. The phone had been knocked from it's holder and ended up in the passenger's door. Eventually he was able to assure us that he was ok. I ended up driving for 5 hours one way to pick him up in the hospital and then another 5 hours to bring him home. Needless to say, day 1 of 2018 initially wasn't very happy, but when everyone got home, we all gave thanks.

The truck is fully insured and will be replaced and his son and wife are coming home at the end of the week from the hospital.

I was somewhere over Greenland at New Years home time but had already passed through it in real time, we kissed and then caught a few hours sleep on a 14 hour flight. Here in Delhi everone keeps wishing us a Happy New Year.
