For the better part of 35 years I have worked for a Chevy dealership in a nearby town. My latest assignment is in the parts department where this year I sold $1,052,147.00 in parts and merchandise. Got my Christmas bonus check today.. $46.20.. yep 46 bucks. Well, at least I got that. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to spend it.. maybe a tank of gas.. just hope it doesn't put me in a higher tax bracket. Just wanted to share..

I worked for one employer for 37 years. The bonuses I received over that time totaled zero. I still feel better about mine than yours. I didn't expect any. Yours is like getting a 2 cent tip for dinner service.

Currently, I get maybe $120 each quarter if the store makes top rating in some 4 or 5 parameters. Last place I worked, around $30K before taxes.

I've never had a bonus in my entire working life.
Worked 25 years for a children's charity.....paid me a pittance.
Retired 5 years back and started to work for myself

I've never been so affluent.

I retired from Chrysler in 06, got bored and took a P/T job at a Boat and RV repair facility. The owner just gave me $200 for Christmas. He's a great guy, but then again I'm a great worker. Merry Christmas all you guys and gals.

Chy I cant relate to that as I only get paid a commision on the sale which if sold at full price or more is substantial. Weekly monthly quarterly yearly bonuses if I make my numbers and $100 debit card in my Christmas card. But nothing is guaranteed I have to generate the business and if I dont I wont have a job. Writing over a million dollars US of business a $40 bonus not acceptable, your fat cat boss probably tips more then that at the country club every week.

But y'all just got a tax break however that is a subject for another time and place.

Each of my six employees just got a $60 box of Belgian chocolates. Some years I do more but it's been a tough year. 40 some years ago UPS gave us Christmas turkeys. During my time in the Navy they occasionally allowed us to have our birthdays, then again they often didn't.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

It's been a loooong time ago, but I worked at a local factory, one of the worst paying in the area. Only job I could find under "Reagans recession". Made about $112 a week. But the company DID give out large bonuses, which was based on time worked there, roughly. The first year I got $230. Some employees had actually been there for more than twenty years. I heard they got a couple of grand. I was thrilled to get it, but still, hardly worth it considering I nearly starved for a whole year to get it.

I'm self employed, I do accounting work. Every year different clients invite me to their Christmas parties, most I go to. One party at a bar & grill I do work for the owner always gives me a Christmas card with $200 enclosed. I feel guilty because I'm already charging him $600 a month for five hours work, so I come in on my birthday every year, hand the $200 to the barkeep, tell her to keep $30 for herself and let the day time retired crowd drink on me till it's gone.

Of course I could just keep the $200 and go to confession.

That's pretty insulting Lots of places tell you how much of a valued employee you are.You are until bonus time.Never mind, but just keep it in the back of your mind.

Well I own my own business and we are a small company. 5 Employees including me. I always give Christmas bonuses. We had a really good year. I gave out $8200.00 in bonuses this year. I would not be able to do what I do without each of them.

I have a single father with 2 kids
A single mom with 2 kids
Fireman that works for me part time to make ends meet
An older lady that has been my mentor and has taught me how to be a business owner.

My wife and I adopted a family from the local woman's shelter an abuses mother with a 3 and 4 year old. My wife took her shopping yesterday and spent over $400.00 so she and her kids will have a Christmas this year.

We donated $300.00 to Wreaths across America.

We got married on Christmas eve and this year will be our 30th year of marriage.

We are by no means rich, but God has been good to us this year. We do not want for much and it just did not make since to us to put presents under the tree.

It is not my intention to boast. We just feel touching the lives of others is the greatest gift of all and this year we have been blessed.

Merry Christmas

Good on ya Bill!

Of course if companies aren't doing well then bonuses shouldn't be expected, but over here, big companies like Qantas, BHP ,the banks, etc. weren't doing so good a few years ago .The CEOs were still raking in millions of dollars in bonuses.I left one bank[a mouse defying a steamroller I know], because a new CEO came to the bank ,sent everybody broke, and left 18 months later with a 30 million?bonus that had been "arranged" on his being hired.
But, a fair bonus for effort

You know sometimes I feel selfish about things like this.

I sit here on this Christmas eve with 6 inches of snow on the ground in a warm home, healthy kids, a tree surrounded by presents.

Ema and I celebrated 30 years of marriage today.

But what fills me is helping others. I just have a servant attitude. Putting a smile and touching the hearts of others fulfills me. The thing is so many times it is so simple to do.

Waiting a few seconds longer to hold open a door.
Paying for a meal of a young or old couple in a restaurant.
Helping someone in the Menard's parking lot load a truck.
Helping someone at a grocery store.
Giving a kid their first ride on a motorcycle.
Ride with the Patriot Guard.
Going on Charity rides.

There are so many little things that fill my soul.

I lay in bed at night before falling asleep remembering the smiles and the eyes every day.

Merry Christmas

EVERY night here is dog snuggling night! Since my wife is gone, they've gotten more attentive than usual. My routine is; after I get done with supper and chores, I head upstairs to sit on my side of a couch recliner, laying an afgan over me. Within minutes, the girl bulldog moves to my left side, the wiener jumps up on the right arm side, the boxer straddles my legs and the cat usually appears last, taking the only place available, my chest. I watch tv, feeling like a "pet sandwich" until I drift off to sleep.

Pets (my experience is mostly with dogs) are very sensitive to their people's needs. If I've had a bad day they know and are there to do their best to give their love and support. When my wife's dad died our dogs sensed her grief became her dogs for months. Sounds like you have some good critters there.

I am blessed to have a good employer, we got a bonus for Trumps Tax bill, and get a bonus every April for profit sharing. Our company is very generous, but we are still struggling to get a Union contract. It's been almost 5 1/2 years since we've had a raise, and negotiations are still stalling. We all remain hopeful that this silliness will come to an end soon, and clear the air for all of us nation wide. Very thankful just to have work!
