Thinking about all our friends in Irma's path. Be safe, and be smart.

Im north of you Jeffrey and I'm looking at a CAT 2 storm. Looks like we'll be looking at the eye on Sunday. here's to hoping Irma bounces East, my woodford reserve doesn't go dry, and the winds are kind to all.

I'll be sheltering in place here on the Island.

And I'll be thinking about 2004 and what great fun it was for an ex rugby player to lean into the wind!

I'd have paid good money to see that

Really though, fingers crossed you all escape without too much damage.
I hear there are two more following out in the Caribbean behind Irma.

Looks like the eye will be passing directly over here sometime Sunday night ? We have been told to evacuate due to surge potential so will head 30 miles inland to sons house . Good news is we get to hang with the grandkids bad news is I could lose my home for Millie ( my 02 BA) as she lives in a shed and hurricane Charlie blew the roof off and he wasn't nearly as pissed as Irma and wasn't a direct hit . Just a little nervous about this one boys and girls to say the least . Lived thru a few storms starting with Clio when I was a kid in Vero beach but for the first time this ones got me worried !!! 150mph wind ain't good and has the potential to destroy everything in its path . Nothing like this one since Andrew and we all remember Homestead. They say by the time it gets to Tampa she will have lost a lot of her punch but will still be severe and it looks like this could be serious all the way to Alabama or GA . Depending on which way she turns . This is not like Texas in the sense she's moving fast where Texas lingered and lingered Irma will be a 24 hr event and be on her way to devastate and destroy a path north . Will post more after she's gone and we get power ! Prayers needed for everyone on the west coast of Fl as it appears she's going to run up highway 41 .

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Good luck Newt. I'll be thinking of you and pray your home is not damaged. I know you've had your bike a long time but she can be replaced. You can't. My elderly aunt and uncle live in Tampa. I'll be keeping a close watch on this one.

I became too gridlocked to travel 3 days ago, the good news is , there is no good news. Thanks for everyone's response/concern, , to my fellow Floridians, stay safe, and put important things in ziploc bags, in case you encounter heavy storm surge. Also, utilize your dishwasher, it is waterproof, and will likely survive a tornadoe. If your told to evac to a shelter, do it. Stay safe my friends, I'll keep you updated.

Winds howling, frogs croaking, loss power 8pm Sunday night. Will fire up generator later this morning. West Florida...thrashed. Irma. Another name that will live in infamy. Ft. Myers friends asked us to drive across state and stay with them this past Thursday. We declined. Barrier island we are on. Sort of. Matthew was louder. Irma is an atmospheric maelstrom. The house sounds like my old weary bones: creaky. Even though we lost power the house is still comfortable as we had the ac on 76°. Brrr. Too cold. Thank goodness for rocky patel and woodford reserve. Speaking of. It is 4:30 is it not?

Irma. OMG

Reporting live from Irma's dirty side....this is not walter chronic

Newt Dang. My brother in law. In Brandon. Dang. My ft Myers friends. Dang. My Miami friends, dang. Port St. Lucie Kendal ... crap. hope all you are safe.

Chickens are fine. They have most of their feathers too. lol

We still have no water (we do have a full swimming pool used for flushing and washing dishes and bucket showers.) Power was restored to us yesterday afternoon. The parents have no water or power and suffered a tornado roll by. Major roof damage (non structural) caused by tornado ravaged ancient oak trees. They are okay. The water is going to out for days. Yeah real specific eh? No water and living out of coolers reminds me the Daytona infield back when stock cars without template specs were the norm.

Talked to newt Tuesday evening. He is doing well. Nothing torn up on his home, nor was there any damage to Millie or Prudence. He'll check in once he has power and internet!

Now that I have power life is beginning to return to some normalcy . We have massive destruction all around here , Marco island devestated , Everglades city devestated , around here many homes under water , trees down everywhere , trailers destroyed by the hundreds . There are still a few hoods under water and now their sewers are backed up and human waste is floating and the health dept won't let those people near their homes . Some I know have lost everything but have not heard of any lives lost except when talking to the man who was restoring my power he told me 3 lineman have died while working . My home stood the test , my bikes are untouched and I was able to take Millie out tonight for a short run and man did it feel good . Went to bike night and listened and swapped stories about everyone's experience thru this .good to know my other brothers in Fl are all ok !!! God is good

on this side of the State, "Like a Hurricane" was bluetooth casting during the winds of Irma, with a Rocky Patel 1990 in one hand and neat pour of Woodford Reserve in the other.
