Looks like being a big one !!

Quote:

"Now is the time to urgently hide from the wind," the National Weather Service (NWS) said in a bulletin.
"Failure to adequately shelter may result in serious injury, loss of life or immense human suffering."

Doesn't sound good to me.
Hope all goes well for those in the path.

I dunno, but it sure doesn't seem fair to name something with the potential destructive power that this storm seems set to deliver after an otherwise docile six foot invisible rabbit, now does it?!

(...well, I'll bet Elwood P. Dowd would agree with me here anyway)

Yeah Harvey seems like "Wimpy" name for a category III Hurricane.

There was a Latino Mom that had a baby during the storm in Corpus Cristi. At a nurses suggestion they named him Harvey Rodriguez. That kid's gonna get his ass whipped in grade school.

Like Mrs Trickle who named her son Dick. It's funny because it's true! WTF was she thinking! Maybe she was plain mean.

It's causing a lot of rain here. One of the side effects is that we've sold out of lawnmowers and brush hogs.

Wow, fifty plus inches of rain in Houston in two days. I'd be looking around for Noah and his boat.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

And all the tornadoes Harvey is going to spin off over the next week.

Harvey is packing some punch and a few left jabs still to come. Wishing those on this forum and your neighbours relief and soon.

Every time I see this kind of flooding it brings back memories. I lived near Wilkesbarre, PA in 72 when Agnes wiped it out. They had 2nd story water.

It appears 6 flood deaths in Houston so far. But they have 1000s of homes to check and the water won't start to recede until about Thursday.

One of our own Stewart Hoehn is currently living there...he is on a bump so his home is currently dry...but he is surrounded by water and trapped until the water recedes enough to allow passage...

Sure did. My family and I lived in Painted Post, NY at the time, and were completely wiped out. I was very young at the time, but I distinctly remember a boat pulling up to our 2nd story balcony to rescue us. We lost my Mom's VW, my Dad's GTO, and both of his bikes ('67 Duc and '68 Bonnie).

When Agnes went through, we were lucky but neighbors lost a lot. The same in Binghamton area in 2006 and 2011.

From what I saw in those 3 floods, the ones with the least tend to lose the most. Not exclusively, of course, but it's the cheaper homes and trailer parks that are usually in the lowest lying areas.
