So I'm wondering if any Cal members, can tell me if I need to add a Tee-Splice to the hose that in explicitly joins the normal sync barb as well as an extra one on the other side of the butterfly (mid carburator)? Or do I rubber comdom up the two extra hose barbs and just do a normal sync itinerary?

Isn't this the poor man's balancing hack and not a factory feature?

I'm in search of someone somewhat knowledgeable about California s version of Modern Triumph Carburetors, they are an aberration of what I'm used to. I'll accept a Poor Man s Hack at this point, I just want to finish this project.

I admit to no CA model knowledge. All of my bikes have had two vacuum ports per cylinder, all four condomed up. I just assumed the Keihin folks were just being economical and building one universal body. Wouldn't the butterfly side go to evap cans on a CA bike?

No, the two hose ports/hose barbs, whatever, are married/conjoined/connected via a single hose. Whether the Yahoo I got the bike from, got creative for the lack of Sqrrl Condoms or not, I guess I should have asked that question. But for now, I'm blanking off the rear hose ports. No mo post '82 Cali vehicles fer me.

I believe there was a post at one time where a tube was used instead of condoms. My T140V is like that. I don't think it makes a difference in performance. I have only heard of the "canister" being the only difference on Cali bikes.

Thanks to everybody for the helpful feedback. Let me back up, I bought a bike in Lompoc, Ca. An 06 America for $2500, with a bunch of extras, it came with Specialty Spares, a airbox elimination kit installed, new take off exhausts, a bike jack, shop manual, case of oil, nice tins, etc. No canisters present, and supposedly re jetted by the dealer who installed the the Freak or Nark or whatever it's called. 042 idle jets 030 mains, the filters were crap sponge UNIs. It will be squared away by Sunday, just glad I drove down in my pick up instead of riding it home, with it tuned so lean. Oh and if I can believe the speedo, 3346 original miles. The guy bought it for his wife, he ate Shite on the LA Freeway on his Harley and she refused to ride anymore. I was the only EBay bidder so I lucked out there. So why are our Spdy s and America s saddled with so low a re sale value? It's disconcerting to say the least..

Now that I know it's a personal project your working on, I'm sure that the carbs can be treated/balanced the same as non-cali bikes.Congrats on the purchase !!!

My bike has squirrel condoms on all 4 barbs, no problems when it came time to balance them. no performance issues either.
