Cooling off ride after cutting grass.
Short ride in town to gas up, non ethanol fuel.
New Shoei Full Face helmet, first one that has ever fit, 36 years of riding. Sweaty grass cutting shirt, jeans and tennis shoes, other riding gear safely at home.
Deer steps into road, runs in front of me and looks slightly left and back as we collide. Things go black, very quiet, road gets hard and hot, next... "I'm going to hold your head, don't move..."
Broken right humerous, right foot and ankle, multiple road rash. Helmet protected head, face and neck. Deer dead.
04 Triumph America totaled, home from hospital with family, Blessed.

A Deer is nothing to me but an Oversized, Useless, Kamikaze, Rodent. Glad to hear you survived, Warren, not all who connect with one do.

Glad to see you are still with us Warren. Deer on the side of the road scares the hell out of me. Never know which way those buggers will spring. All the best recovering.

Deer Moose giant rodents as Ryk calls them, good to hear you came out of the accident with less injuries then the deer. Alive you are.

Those damned critters are high on my list of riding fears. Glad to hear you survived. Get well quick - and get back in the saddle.

Nah, don't need no more. Third most populous in the nation! Damn state controlled herd, where the "pen" is our open highways! Small plug here (seems appropriate) for my electronic deer whistle I installed nearly three years ago. We've had this talk on here but my latest report is VERY few deer sited since installation. In fact, only about three from the pre-deer average of one a week. But not to hijack, glad another brother survived a road rat. Get back soon and try not to let it bother your mind on future rides.

Huh, I just remembered, West Virginy has the HIGHEST population in the state. But now, minus one! (Stinkin deer! ) Also, I might get a chance to try out my deer whistle there in just over a week. Going to take my niece for a ride to Kentucky and if I can swing it time wise and money wise, possibly a ride on out to the coast so she can see the ocean! Might go through one of the Virginia's.

Perhaps you need to move the signs?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Just stay on 64 east and you will hit Virginia Beach. But in the meantime you can show her Yorktown and Jamestown for history lessons too.

Thats exactly why I don't ride after 6:00 PM. They're everywhere. I also don't take the interstate, there are carcass all over the road. I went for a mid day ride a week ago and had several at the side of the road, they're supposed to be in the woods that time of the day. There are several hit every year just past my house. number one scare is deer. second is people pulling out in front of me, four in one day last Wednesday.

Sounds very scary Warren, I'm very glad your home on the mend.

Glad you are on the mend. So what kinda bike are we shopping for?

Another older America or Speedmaster?

Newer model America or Speedmaster?

Maybe a Bobber?

T-Bird LT?

A Rocket?

So many choices

Were you able to salvage the deer or was it too broke up?

My final word on deer (It's Ian's fault, he got me started! ) is that I have really nice DEERSKIN gloves that I wear. Every time I put them on I give an evil lil chuckle!

My first thought was: 'This wouldn't happen in a Subaru BRZ or Toyota 86...."

Newer model America or Speedmaster?

'bet that safety gear at home would help protect me some,
maybe the bike was just too small.

Maybe a Bobber?

Always wanted a custom front end...

T-Bird LT?

maybe 36 years of riding is enough
A Rocket?
Too heavy...
So many choices
