This is a great read. Pottering around english back roads on a veteran motorcycle. Well written and with good explanations of the technology and the learning. http://www.go-faster.com/1914Triumph.htmlOne thing I thought was really neat was a picture of the belt drive which is, I guess canvas. The author describes taking a link out of it and washing it with laundry soap!

Bill, That was a great read. Thanks for posting. Really shows how handy people had to be in order to ride a bike like this for any distance and yet some travelled thousands of miles on these bikes. Amazing. Much appreciated.

Needs a velocity stack, a progressive spring on the forks and a Corbin seat. Just kidding, too cool for school just the way it is.

These were used extensively by the British army during WW1.....mainly for despatches.....they became known as the ' Trusty Triumph.' Thanks for the link.....

On page 24 of this magazine is the journal of JT Hart. It's the story of 2 friends doing a road trip in 1922. Amazing stuff.
