My back really likes a backrest now that I'm north of 65. Has anyone had any experience with the driver's backrest for our scoots on Ebay? Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRIUMPH-AMERICA-...S-/381239645024Supposedly works with the stock seat, but does it? It beats buying a Corbin by hundreds of bucks, but I wonder if it's any good. So thought I'd ask you folks. Thanks for your thoughts!

FastEddy sells a better one, and I tried the one you're looking at. Sold it off cheap the first chance I got.

I have to agree with Ryk. I was lucky and found a ProTac used last year. Easy on and off and very comfortable. Easily the best thing I have done to the bike so far.

Thanks Mark - that's good news. Looks like the Pro Tac's the way to go. Thanks for the info!

Never owned a bike with a backrest before but since I got mine from fast Eddie I can't imagine not having one lol when Diamond ( Mrs Newt ) wants to ride with me , she doesn't like it there and in a second ( literally) it's off and when I return home and want it back on ? In 3 seconds it's back on . Very easy initial install and after all this time ( bought one of the first ) it still looks new. Can't say enough positive about it
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

The Protac s really come into their own when used in conjunction with the Maverick type single seat. Lets me sit comfortably down in the bike in lieu of being on it.

I've got one the one on eBay, been using it for 5 or so years. Sold bracket bolts on to the underside of the pillion, just make sure not to over-tighten as the plastic on the seat can break easily.
It is solid, secure, slides in and out easily and has worn as well or better than the stock seats and rear backrest (no issues with either).
Te only negative I have is that it is thicker than the OEM rear backrest, really just a visual, preference thing. Personally I think it looks better than the Protac - to me the Protac looks like an afterthought whereas the one on eBay looks more integrated. but that is just personal preference. The thicker pad made me feel it was pushing me forward when I first got it, but that impression went away with time.

The Protac looks like it leans back the ebay looks more straight up position(tuff to tell from photos) 6' 34 32 pant. Looking for ergonomic recommendation given I think I would like hips pushed forward a little.

You can tweak the Pro-Tac with a hard push or a pull while it's in its bracket to get the exact angle you need. Once set, it stays there and is still readily removable with a straight up tug. I prefer the Pro-Tac because I can push with my legs, my back into the pillow hard, whereas the the other had too much give to give me proper relief from spine curvature. The between the seat and pillion item looks a little more factory and cleaner lines overall, just too flexible for me.

So I guess it allows you to sit more upright, erect so to speak. Hmmm that brings this old Ottawa rock and roll band to mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpOeaKmqxwM
