Hi all,

I've finished customising my 2011 Triumph America and thought I'd share.

Nothing major, just SAI, 02 and Airbox removed, K&N Pods fitted, high flow short slash cut pipes, twin tbar, front and rear fender trimmed, Bonneville tail light assembly fitted with extra brake LED's plus a few bits and pieces here and there including extra padding on the new single seat.

And not forgetting the all important performance map from TTP in England which cost me a bit but turned out to be the best buy out of everything.

Here is a quick family vid I did on the project (just for fun) ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvufgtws5Rc (sorry, can't seem to embed it to view)

This one is pretty tight now, not too big and clunky, is smooth as silk and the power increase is very noticeable.

I'm proud of how things turned out. She's a keeper for sure.

Cheers all

Happy

Do you call her the Penguin? Wait a minute, is it black and white or available light abstraction during the photoshoot? Kudos for your upgrades. Sharp looking bike.

Hey Ryk,

She's blue and white. Yeh, might have overdone the contrast slider a bit! It's clearer in the vid.

Eclipse Blue and Crystal White is the official Triumph Colour names. I personally reckon one of the best colour combos.

Cheers

Thank you Ryk, Wade, Deldog, BillyIndiana and Peter_AU for you nice comments guys.

Deldog - They are Metzeler 888's White walls. Not to be confused with the Metzeler 880 Marathons which not many people were impressed with.

The Metzeler 888's are a new breed, made by Pirelli in the Pirelli tire factory in Germany. So far they seem very good but its only early days for me with them.

Good luck

Cheers

Hello Peter. I see also you have that obnoxiously loud horn. I heard you blow it way over here . I have one too.
We had a secret meeting of the Secret Society and both of us agreed that you should get the chrome seat rail that goes around the back edge of the seat.
Now that would make that beautiful bike really pop !
Thank you. Go get it now. We will monitor this.

Hey Wade,

Please consider removing it from your bike ASAP.

Four years ago an acquaintance of mine had a vehicle ram him in the rear. It was determined the vehicle impacted at less than 15KPH.

That bar you talk about sliced through the lower part of his spine. He is now a paraplegic.

He has taken up the challenge to have them banned in AU after discovering a number of other people had minor rear end collisions who are also left paraplegic.

I don't mean to dampen your nice comment but man, this one post of mine could save you from a truly terrible fate.

You don't need any thin metal bar behind your lower spine when riding a bike mate, no way. Get rid of it ASAP.

All the best Wade.

Cheers

Happy

A seat rail being hit from behind would make an exceptionally efficient castration device. Put on a old time parcel rack on the tank and double your chances to sing soprano.

I'm talking about the thin seat rail which is an after market addition which is affixed just to the rear of your seat.

Unbelievable they can still be purchased. Instant paraplegic should you get even the slightest bump in the rear.

I never tell anyone what they should or should not do because this is downright rude IMO, but on this issue I make an exception. DO NOT FIT THIS THIN METAL BAR DEVICE THAT SITS JUST BEHIND THE LOWER PORTION OF YOUR SPINE. If you have it get rid of it ASAP.

Yes, I know riding is risky but the risk people take with this "spine splicing" device is just insane.

I want to apologise if I seem to be ranting but my rant is unfortunately very justified and could save someone from a most terrible fate.

Cheers

Happy

I found a pic of the "spine splicer".

OMG, just look at it and imagine what would happen to you during even the most slightest bumps in the rear. Say no more.

Hey Wade, no need to apologise, you've done nothing wrong mate. It's just me sharing what was a terrible event that happened to someone I know all because of that terrible 'spine splicer' seat rail.

Hope people don't mind.

Cheers

Man that ride pops.... Great piece of work.

As to the seat rail, I had one on my America for years and loved it. Forget the fact that it is a spline slicer..... Just look at what you are riding....several gallons of gasoline sitting between your legs on top of enough heat to ignite a small fire along with 2 tires with the potential to explode if overheated along with a profile that can barely be seen by most cagers..... What's the big deal.
