Yep Paul. Very true...

Seems you knew of Mr. Wynn's long history with motorcycling.

(...along with this guy standing next to him and the pre-unit Triumph here)

Btw Ryk, thanks for posting this. This particular TCB episode was always my favorite one I recall watching back during this series' initial run.

(...my bike at the time was a '66 BSA 650 Lightning, but I also recall wanting a '69 XLCH Sportster in the worst way after watching each episode of that show back then)

I blame "Bronson" and various B grade biker movies for my decision to buy a 1974 Ironhead Sportster.

Had a few problems with your AMF Harley, did ya Paul?

What's kind'a funny here is that just about the time Michael Parks' "Long Lonesome Highway" was a small hit recording over the airwaves, I met a friend of a friend who had just purchased a new 1970 XLH electric start Sportster, and for a while the three of us would do Sunday rides through and around the mountains of SoCal.

After about six months or so, I eventually lost touch with the guy when he stopped joining me on my Beezer and my friend on his new Honda CB750 for these rides.

But about a year after that, I ran into the guy at some motorcycle show and I asked him if he still had that cool as hell Sportster, and he replied by sayin' somethin' like, "Yeah, I still got that f***in' bike, and it's been sittin' in my garage since it threw a rod about two months after its warranty expired!"

I've got the whole Then Came Bronson set on DVD. I also have the pilot movie on VHS. Loved the show, it was a source of much inspiration for me.

How long have you had that Iron Head Sportster of yours, Chy?

Well I actually have one in my pole barn as we speak. Not mine though... if it were it would be painted red with the little dollar bill eye on the tank.

Everyone Hates on the old Ironheads, but there sure are a lot of them being ridden around here. Much like Hating on Lucas electrics, old TRiumphs are still very popular. Maybe a few problems just keep it interesting, growing the Myth's and keeping the folk tails alive. How come no one ever remembers the Stator problems on the old Honda's? Anyone remember the Batt charger hooked up every night? Those were the days.

Bronson was part of the inspiration that lead me on a journey across America on my Daytona in the 70's . My best friend ( at the time ) and I use to watch that show every week and would talk and dream about what it would be like . When the time came that I wanted to go, he sadly could not due to the fact that he had grown up lol we sometimes talk about it and it's obvious he's sad he didnt go but he had to live his life and I mine. The trip of a lifetime was spent in just over a yr traveling by motorcycle across the US!!!!

I still think about another trip across the U.S. all the time. I can't seem to get enough of it! I mostly think about going "back East"next time, as I loved riding through New York state and Pennsylvania nearly twenty years ago on my old Triumph. I'm sure Ian will be a stop. After we get done shootin the crap about bikes, I'll try and straiten out his politics. Should take me about twenty minutes!
