Well it looks like we are going to do the rally again in Eureka Springs, its been a few years since we were there. The dates will be October 8th,9th, 10th and leave on the 11th. Rally headquarters will be the Riders Rest motel just east of Eureka springs. Call Anne for a reservation at (479)253-9815 but hurry there are only 6 rooms left for those dates. I reserved all 6 under my name. I was thinking doing the Mount Magazine run on Friday and the maybe Saturday go north up to table rock lake.

What the HECK?!! I thought the Riders Rest was closed? And isn't Anne the name of the English lady who we dealt with the first year, who moved? I don't know if'n I can go or not. Crazy busy with work. And it'd be hard to justify after my Canadian Adventure. Still, it has always been one of my favorites. And Eureka springs IS closer than last years ride. Hmmmmm....

This map is a mashup of several shorter rides I have done lately. It covers quite a bit of road that we haven't ridden before (that I remember anyway). Three hours or so to Oark, then lunch at the Oark General Store (oldest continually operating store in AR). They have the best burgers in this part of the world and also usually have a plate lunch as well as other menu items. Yes, it is very old and very country but makes the favorites list of many cycle groups. Look it up online if you want. Anyway, after lunch could go on to Clarksville and take 123, 7, etc back to Eureka or could go on down 23 to Ozark and to Mount Magazine from there. Just depends on how long of a day we want to make of it. Just throwing this out as an option. There is an emergency repair contract being let for the slide on 23 just north of the jct with 215. Completion date is 10/30/15 so might be some waiting time at the repair site, assuming they get it in passable condition before then.

Map morning ride

We could modify the route to hit Granny's for breakfast then take the long way to Oark.

Wish I could join you guys this Oct. Can't get away from work. It was frustrating not being able to attend last year's Hot Springs rally due to electrical problems (cdi ). It was appreciated that Chad stopped by the store when he came into town.

I'm thinking about selling the America, it isn't ridden much and private school for the girls ain't cheap. Take lots of pictures so I can live vicariously through you guys.

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Dave is more committed to the ARK rally than his wife, Yota. GA is just another rally on the side.

I accept that tiara... as long as "it's all about the journey not the destination." holds true.
Am at least familiar with this area as opposed to Mo.

How much time/distance is a good days ride guys?

250 miles or so should keep us busy, especially if we throw a couple food and gas stops in there

Ok. What is a run for a tank of fuel? I can go 200 miles and my America wouldn't do that. I do carry a half gallon container if necessary.

Also what grade fuel does everyone use?

Ponca has one gas pump with two hoses and only has 87 octane. Oark is the same, only you pump the fuel and multiply the price by two to get the real cost (old dial type pump).
I have filled up at Huntsville with 91 and run to Ponca, refilled with 87 (half a tank) so the fuel from that point was probably 89 or 90. There are no other dependable fuel stops along the route until we go out to Ozark or Clarksville.

My comfortable range is about 120, although it is better on back roads than highways

I can go around 180-200 miles on my bird. I can run on any octane but I prefer 89 and above.

Is there anyone who cannot burn 87 octane? Fuel stops are rare along the route and even more rare if you can't use 87. Can carry a bottle of Octane boost if needed to allow burning a bit of the 87. Just buy the minimum to get back to civilization.

He probably will have plenty of fuel for the run before lunch (95 miles from last fuel stop) and the next 25 miles to Clarksville. So if you don't take on some fuel at Oark it would be 120 miles from the last fuel stop to the next.

But, if they don't get the landslide repaired on 23 my whole route is blown up.
